Start out at the main entrance to South Mountain and make a left past the vistor's center. Go to the end of the road to the beginning of Holbert Trail. Get to the top and make a right to Dobbins Lookout. This trail is challenging at first. Inclines will definitely get your heart beat going. It is worth it get to the Lookout point. Good views of the city and the television tower on top of the mountain.

Awesome trail we've hiked it numerous times before. Today, was the first day we see a rattlesnake. It was at the very top we were sitting enjoying the view and my husband saw it slowly coming up the stairs. The snake then proceeded to go down and you couldn't see it if you were going down the steps, so be extra careful where you step and have fun. :)

Great trail!!! Recommend it.

Sunset hike tonight!! Beautiful views everywhere, especially at the top!!! Speaking of the top, this is definitely a heavy-moderate level. A great mix of incline and switchbacks. Love the large parking lot and there’s bathrooms, yay!! Looking forward to enjoying this hike again!!

A great sunrise hike, not a lot of people in the morning but is soon as the park opens it it definitely gives busy. We hiked up before it opened so we can get at the top right as the sunrise comes over the city:

Very well maintained trail. Lots of traffic on the trail Saturday morning even in July. Completed it with my 5 and 8 year old boys.

Great trail with a majestic view of the valley from the rock house at the top! Saw just a few people and the beetles weren’t bad at all. The rock house ( Dobbins lookout) must have been cleaned up because there was no glass or trash as previously reported. Definitely moderate to intermediate. You’re ascending 2/3 of the way. Plan lots of water! Enjoy

Good little workout. I’d say moderate is a fair rating. The other review about bugs were accurate but didn’t ruin the experience. The lookout is a tourist stop too, so there is broken glass up there on the trail with is a bummer. Bring enough water!

I had high hopes for this trail, but I didn't love it. It's a good workout, well-marked, and free. However, the bugs made it unbearable. We had to run part of the way down to get through the swarms of blister beetles. The lookout is full of broken glass and trash. I definitely don't recommend this one. The moderate rating is fair.

Going up is not what I would consider moderate. It was a good hike.
