There are many trails in this area that are worthy of more hiking. The Hidden Valley loop offers interesting tunnels, dry waterfalls, and a squeeze through Fat Man's pass. While it might be tempting, it is not recommended to hike off trail in this area as it is very difficult to make any progress and easy to lose sight of the trail. Given the close proximity with Phoenix, you should be ready to share this trail with many others, especially on nice winter weekends. Bring your camera as there are many opportunities for great photos.

Fun and mostly kid friendly hike. I saw lots of people, dogs, mountain bikers, and one horse! The views of Phoenix are great. Expect to do a tiny bit of climbing/scrambling between Hidden Tunnel and Fat Man’s Pass, but it’s totally doable. A small warning: there were a LOT of bees out there, and two swarms of bees in different locations.

Hiked yesterday - fair amount of traffic, not overwhelming. A handful of dogs between there and back. Moderate+ difficulty due to elevation, took 2 hours or so. Get there early for a good parking spot.

Really liked this trail, had a great time. Not easy but not difficult either. The Mormon trail section has good views of the valley, it gets really fun when you get to the loop at the end of Mormon trail though. Careful, fat mans pass is not able to be squeezed through by chunky man. Easy to climb around though. Somewhat busy but nothing like Camelback busy.

This trail offered some great views of the Phoenix area, and I loved the natural tunnel. The trail does get a bit confusing around fat man's pass, but if you go just past the natural tunnel there is a small trail to the right leading up to a squeeze through two large rocks. If you go through there, you can easily find the trail to complete the loop. Just make sure when you link up with National that you go right towards Mormon. I ended up going way too far on National and had to backtrack. Overall this was a nice getaway from the city, though!

previous reviews were especially helpful when trying to find out where to go after fat man's pass. Got hit by a biker shortly after the tunnel when I reconnected with the main trail. I've been both a biker and a hiker and it helps when the bikers shout out which way they are passing. Not many did that today. it was a great trail and I look forward to doing it again soon.

The trail itself was beautiful but it was packed with people. There needs to be regulation between bikers and hikers because too many times did me or my dog get hit by careless bikers!

I really enjoyed it! A lot of mountain bikes, watch out! Lots of rocks.

Nice scenic trail. Very rocky and if you see an intersection, keep going straight, don't go left. Also, it's not quite clear where the Hidden Tunnel is, but it's at the end when you find yourself on a wash. Quite scary at night so bring lots of bright light if you're doing it then and watch out for your footing.

bit difficult to follow at times, some scrambling required, you sort of go into a wash, hike the loop counterclockwise

An easy-breezy trail. Not particularly challenging, but some cool rock formations and landscape. Have a picnic on the rocks and bring the dog!

Fun, pretty straight forward. Good for kids and adults. Go in the morning when the weather is warmer as there isn’t much shade. Bring plenty of water and wear good shoes.

I’ve been doing this one since I was a little boy. Bring plenty of water. Fat Mans Pass has a cool slide which is a great stop with kids. Hidden Valley will eat up a couple hours with little explorers as well!

Nice hike, not too difficult, parking was full at 0745 so had to park in one of the streets around, not much shade, lots of dogs on the trail which is always great :).
