Excellent hike counterclockwise with both summits. Both Summits have a steep incline! Great views! Get there early for maximum shade.

Did this at 6pm in the middle of May. It really wasn’t busy, maybe encountered less than 10 people. Did this counter-clockwise but wish I did it clockwise because there would have been more shade.

Took to the trail early and had it mostly to myself. Beautiful, cool morning with views for miles.

Trail well marked, a bit crowded. Only the short spur up Dixie Mountain had any steep grade, otherwise pretty gentle. Encountered one rattler in scrub at side of trail, who let us know of his presence. Many types of wildflower in bloom.

This trail is going to be beautiful and full of wildflowers in a week or two. Lots of poppies and lupine out already. First 1/2 mile has the “steep” part the rest is relatively tame - did not hike the two spurs however so hike was 4.7 miles. Good hike. Great views!

Beautiful and not very difficult of a hike... it’s a nice walk basically. Lots of great views!

Went clockwise from the turnoff that is just about a quarter mile from the trailhead, following sign for H not D. That is Hawks trail and its just a short distance from there where there is yet another turn. Go left to complete the longer loop (the shorter one is just called Dixie Mountain Loop only and is a mile shorter...I considered both today). This way takes you nearer to I 17 after a bit over a mile total from the trailhead. Glad I took the longer option, it was a good workout, would have been too little otherwise. I thought the views were nice but nothing amazing. Most of this trail is not terribly rocky, but a few parts are. Not really any slick downhill parts either! It's never terribly steep (just a couple short parts are kind of, but all doable by me with me being overweight). This trail is VERY well marked. Trails signs every half mile or sooner. Almost too helpful lol

Very nice views and an easyish moderate hike for my fitness level right now. Some of it wasn't the greatest because it is RIGHT above houses and not scenic on that side of the loop, but the top and other side of the loop is great. Really cute area full of cholla towards top of loop. One side was really rocky, but for the most part, this trail wasn't terribly rocky for being in AZ. Very little shade but not "none", there are a couple spots you can find that provide a bit depending on time of day.

Great morning hike as temperatures are starting to cool off and I was able to bring my puppy along. Hot air balloons were just lifting off and great desert views.

Went out on a day that the temp gauge stated that it was 115! Great trail! Loved the cacti! Was really happy when the sun dipped behind the hill.

This is a nice hike but a pretty busy trail. I'd say its on the easier side of moderate unless the 6 mile distance is an issue. The pup and I took a short detour to Dixie summit which was definitely worth it for the views. I prefer the rugged steep inclines some of the trails in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve area have to this area though.

Nicely maintained trail, good marking posts, very easy to stay on course and not get lost. Beautiful views! There are times when all you can see around you is nature— maybe with the the exception of a peek at civilization. Saw hot air balloons close by and heard their burners. Spotted an owl who nests in a saguaro every year (learned this from a fellow hiker who stopped to look and pointed her out). This hike is challenging enough, that's for sure. Will do again!

Nice hike, mostly smooth trail surface. Almost had a heart attack a couple times from bikers racing up from behind. Ended up getting back to the car just before dark. Saw no wildlife out today.

Well kept trail with a good mix of elevations and trails. I found it great for an early morning trail run with very few hikers or cyclists.

Long gentle inclines that skirt two summits. If you want more challenge, take the Spurs up to the summits. Mostly away from civilization and noise so very relaxing.

Great walk, not too much loose rock, double wide trail. Views terrific, especially if you take the .2 mile jaunt up the hill and back as shown. Could run or bike this one if I were in better shape.

Nice hike offering a number of good views and changes in elevation. A couple of off-trail climbs allow for greater viewing distance, but not much in the way of better scenery. Rocky, footwear with firm soles are a plus.

Although named Hawk's Nest, I'm told the large nest a short way up the trail is actually an owl's nest. I didn't see anything in it today but am told you can see owl chicks in the nest every spring.
