I hiked this in early September and it was still very hot down on the Horseshoe Mesa. Found an old mine shaft drilled into the canyon wall at the Last Chance Mine with cool air blowing out of it. It was a great spot to take a break and cool off before the hike back up. Like all hikes in the Grand Canyon, this one was awesome!!!

Started at 5:30am after watching the sunrise and had some shade on the way up. For experienced hikers from a cooler climate and lower elevation it was a bit difficult in spots coming up. Definitely worth it to get views of the canyon from about halfway down, the colors as the sun is rises are gorgeous. Took about twice as much water as I normally drink.

Hiked on March 24. A little bit of snow/ice at the top, but it can be avoided. Great views throughout. Last couple miles are a killer! Highly recommend the two spurs (canyon viewpoint and caves)

Such an amazing experience to see the full scale of the canyon! Impossible to get off course so all you have to do is enjoy and conserve energy for the climb back up.

Loved this hike, but we had to cut it short due to rain coming. It's a difficult hike, not for families with young kids as there are several precarious spots along the trail. Of course the views are fantastic!
