Stunning views over the entire distance. We did the entire distance of 12.5km in approx. 3.5h which involved breaks for taking a lot of photos. Make sure you have enough water and sunscreen with you. If you feel the distance is too much for you, you can jump on the busses back to gc village at three bus stations. there are many more stations but all of them would take you first to Hermit's Rest before going back. An entire bus route would take 80 minutes. we saw some elks (unafraid of humans, one even passed by by less than a meter - plaese don't touch and feed anyway), a lot of lizards, raven and eagels.

Started at Bright Angel Trail and went all the way to Hermit's Rest. my navigation said 8 miles. amazing views, even some elk along the way! Busier alot the main stops but at some point the trail turned into a dirt path...very quiet. Traveled with a lite day pack for water and some snacks.

Great way to get away from the crowds...the area between the stops were almost desolate...amazing amazing views.

Beautiful views along the rim! We followed the dirt trail about 95% of the time, which was awesome and actually a lot longer than we expected. Our recording showed 9 miles one way out to Hermit’s Rest! At times the trail ventures incredibly close to sheer drop-offs and can be quite narrow, so it’s not for the faint of heart. I believe the paved bike path is more of a direct route and not as close to the rim the entire way. We hardly saw anyone on the trail and had many views to ourselves. Would definitely do it again!

Not as crowded as the Visitor Center Trail. Easy bus access from multiple points along the trail. Highly recommend!
