First hike here since the May 2020 wildfire. Scorched earth on the north side. Will be interesting to see what recovers if we get some winter rain.
Well-maintained and clearly marked desert trail with lovely views. Still a fair amount of fire damage, but the desert is coming back.
Nice hike. We started at Overton Trailhead. Overton is pretty flat. Still a fair number of wildflowers. This loop is not as scenic as the Quartz-Slate Go John loop but is still nice and gives you a longer hike.
We just did a loop to & from the explore building. Nice trail, there is a bit of horse traffic.
$7 entrance fee. Good trail, very clearly marked. Great area but it feels like no matter how far you hike out there you are always just a turn or two away from seeing more houses. Never really felt like you are completely away like some of the other areas near by.
We did this hike counter clockwise and added the Clay Mine Trail to lengthen the overall hike. This is more of an easy trail than moderate although there are a few moderate climb and decent areas. Most of the trail is smooth which explains the more than usual bike traffics. Our total hike was 7.4 miles in 3:15 stopping 20 minutes for lunch. Overall a nice hike and great way to spend and afternoon. Plenty of parking and restrooms at trail heads
