Freeman Homestead Nature Trail is a 1.1 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Tucson, Arizona that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until October.
It was a nice, short hike to do with my 3 kids (3, 6, 7 y/o). Being our first time at Saguaro National Park, we missed 2 trailheads on the one-lane road, so we couldn't turn around since the loop is a bit long (so it seemed with the traffic traveling at 5mph). We were able to catch this trail before the park exit. There were quite a few beautiful blooms and new cacti emerging under the shady bushes and mesquites. Kids had a good time. Would like to do the other hikes that we missed next time. Weather is still nice enough. Follow the picnic sign to find the trail because we almost missed this one too. It's right before the beginning of the 2-way lane.
Nice short hike
Easy enough for families with youngsters (6+ years). A little bit of 'Little House on the Prairie' information for the kids.
Good starter trails for the kids
