Rocky in parts, nice uphill challenge. Heard a baby rattler so be careful if hiking in summer.

Nice views of scrabbly, interesting mountains. Nothing special, but good moderate hike for the morning. A ton of people were in the area for the summit hike, and fewer for the loop freedom trail. Parking is limited so you have to arrive when the gate opens at 5:30am to get a spot, or park in the neighborhood streets a short walk away

Went clockwise and had a few steep-ish inclines, but the second half was a nice decline. Started at 6:15am and had shade for the first half. Cool views, great trail area! Very busy on a weekend morning, had to park in a neighborhood.

A great trail that splits up the Piestewa peak elevation in 2 to get both some up and down. A little less crowded then some of the other trails.

Definitely more challenging going clockwise for about a half a mile. The terrain is rocky and there’s not very many spots on the trail with shade. Free parking. We tracked 4.16 miles which took us 2 hours and 27 minutes.

The earlier the better. Bring plenty water. Awesome views as you go around the peak!

Nice trail not to hard, but bring a lot of water during the summer.

Great trail. I thought this was on the harder side of moderate. Light traffic. I went clockwise and only passed a few hikers going counter clockwise. There was never anyone behind me the whole way. Definitely bring lots of water. It’s hot out even in the early morn. I started at 8am.

This is a great steady hike if you aren’t feeling the intense piestewa summit. Moderate difficulty if you go clockwise (turn left at beginning), if you go the other way you’ll have a harder incline. There were very few people on the trail. Did see many lizards, but that is usual for this mountain preserve. No real great peaks or views but still pretty! Also about 0.5 of this trail is on the main piestewa peak trail and is difficult but it’s a very short component of this hike.

This was a great hike. You really feel the burn. I guess we went backwards? Cuz we started on the piestewa peak trail. I didnt know it joined with the piestewa peak trail! ***it joins with piestewa peak trail for about .06 mi**** There is shade once you get to the other side of the mountain. But im glad we went the opposite way first to get the crowd out of the way. Definitely bring plenty water. 1-2 water bottles will not do! We finished at about 4 mi. Enjoy the scenery and hike!

Fun variety on this trail. I would hike it clockwise in order to get the hardest part done first. It’s closer to 4 miles and several parts get your heart pumping. Bring enough water because it’s hot out there! I drank 2L during the hike.

I’m newer to hiking so I like to stick to moderate trails but this was definitely the hardest moderate trail I’ve ever done. I went early in the morning, around 5:30, to watch the beautiful sunrise but I don’t know if I’ll hike this again until I’m more experienced.
