NOTE: It has been reported this trail has temporary closures due to COVID-19. Please see the park's website for up to date information. This trail goes counter-clockwise starting on Dutchman Trail, then continuing onto Boulder Canyon. Eventually take a left onto Second Water Trail and head back to the parking area. This loop can also be done clockwise.

Liked the length and the scenery was beautiful, but the boulder creek section is overgrown, lots of burrs and stickers from the dying vegetation. Would do again in the spring when hopefully the brush isn’t so dry, maybe that would help reduce the burrs. Saw a Gila monster and a fat rattlesnake, which I almost stepped on due to the trail being overgrown in parts. High of about 85 degrees. Lots of sun. Consumed 3.5 liters of water.

This is a 13 mile loop that takes from 5-6 hours. It is open. I did this trail today, 4/5/20. I believe Firstwater Trail road was closed in mid to late March on the weekends because there were way too many people. It was not closed today. The trail was a bit overgrown in places down near the creek, and difficult to find your way without using AllTrails Pro and downloading the map before you leave home (no internet access at Trailhead). I enjoyed the flowers, seeing a three different kinds of snakes (one was rattle snake) and a gila monster! It was very exciting to see the gila monster. Beautiful day and very secluded even though it was Sunday. Social distancing at its best!!!

This was a great tough hike it took us multiple hours we plan for 10 miles like the app shows but one of the other readers is right as we clocked 12.5 miles - bring lots of extra water and time enjoy the trip

Great trail! Did it 2 weeks ago and there was a lot of water flowing. Had to cross probably 15 times. It was easy to spot the cairns on the opposite side of the creek (is it a creek?) so you know when to cross. The boulder canyon portion is quite overgrown, so long sleeves and pants are a good idea. We both clocked in at 12.6 miles and we stayed on the trail. Would definitely do this one again.

Just did an out and back on Dutchman today. We were amazed at how green things are and how much water is running in the creeks and washes. Looked like a different hike.

Fun, beautiful trail. Really overgrown on the Boulder Canyon portion, and lots of places to lose the trail with the water crossings. My watch recorded the length at 11.73 miles.

Half the trail was crossing a huge raging river in and out. Although it was very tough there is a lot of great camping spots and it is a very beautiful trail.

This trail was enjoyable from start to finish. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and SO green! We took a slow pace and camped somewhere around mile 6. Bring bug spray though. We were swarmed with mosquitos at dusk and luckily had bug wipes. You will be crossing a lot of water once on boulder canyon portion of trail - easiest to bring a pair of Keens/chacos to swap into so you’re not either hunting for rocks to balance and cross on or getting your boots wet.
