2.5 stars. First time there and was at night, couldn't find trail markings and the AllTrails map was slightly off. Still a nice walk. Unfortunately it's by a highway so you can hear and see cars close by. At night it does offer a nice light pollution free view of the stars.

Easy, wide trail, hard to get lost even if you get off the trail--which is easy as there are many adjacent well traveled paths, because you can easily see where folks are and get back on the trail.

it was a nice easy walk around the hill side. Unfortunately there a bit of trash on the trail at the beginning. Wish I had a trash bag with me to pack it back out. This would be the perfect little walk after a rain storm to smell all the crosote bushes.

nice hike. I wish the markers were better though. the terrain was easy enough and the views spectacular. you can even climb a bit if you want or run a 5 k.

At the beginning of the trailhead, there is a faded map of the trails. Otherwise, there are NO trail markers except an occasional post indicating that it is possibly a trail. There are several pieces of trails. You need a good sense of adventure, a good sense of direction, and you need to remember where you parked your car!! The buttes are unique and fun to climb on. Just be careful of rocks and sand.

Good beginner trail mostly flat surfaces but there are plenty if opportunities for you to go off trail and climb Papago Buttes. It's difficult to stay on the actual trail because there are so many extra trails around it and signage isn't very good. Heavily trafficked and populated so you shouldn't really get lost, it will be easy to find your way back if you do. Climbing the buttes can be steep and have a lot of loose gravel. I mostly mozied on and off the trail if I saw something that interested me.

Great walk for anyone. Beautiful views. Take plenty of water. There are some designated covered picnic areas. I will say that the trails are not well marked in this park.

Don’t follow the trail, adventure! Dozens upon dozens of wonderful paths can be taken for some fun dips and turns, a handful of nice jumps, and whatever else you’re feeling during your ride. Extremely casual without sacrifice of thrill. It almost feels like a giant skatepark for your mountain bike if you’re willing to seek those special routes!

Nice, easy trail. Sadly there is a lot of glass along the trail which is unfortunate.

I took my 5 year old and 3 year old on a hike, on this trail. And they loved it. Very good trail for beginners, and it’s super easy. Just follow the trail markers. It’s one big loop. And the scenery is beautiful too !

Enjoyed the trail for as long as we could find it. I will say If you plan on bringing your dog, there was lots of broken glass around and my dog got a piece in her paw. I think the other trails there may have less broken glass... we found the 5k loop and that seemed better. Beautiful views and nice trail tho.

Great easy walk with views of downtown and the mountains beyond.

Nice little hike just north of Downtown Tempe! Perfect for when you need a little escape. Get off the trail and relax up in one of the numerous rock cutouts/caves.

Nice walk with some cool views. Decently marked but if you get off the trail it’s easy to connect with another one or find your way back to your trail.

Decent little walk. Pretty crowded.

Perhaps the worst signed trail I have ever used. Impossible to find half the trail. Paving is only a short distance. Kids liked rock clambering, though.

Super easy walk with lots of small areas to explore. However at parts I wasn't sure what was the trail. This was not a big deal other than to help preserve the area. Its pretty wide open with people around so you aren't going to get lost. Would visit again with those that are less fit or on a day when you don't have enough time to drive outside the city.

Nothing special....exactly what I expected from the reviews but a decent place to go for a walk nonetheless.

October 2018- Nonsense! So unmarked, we had to consult the app the whole time. The cacti and scenery are pretty. So if you need a place to wander in nature for about an hour it’s worth it.

Little too heavily trafficked for my taste, but a nice place to catch a sunset

Pretty scenery but very hard to follow, even with the AllTrails app up. Basically, everything that you think would be the trail is not, and everything you think would not be the trail...is! You are better off just wandering wherever your heart takes you.

Less of a hike, more of an enjoyable walk for the dog! Pick a route, any route. Not much of a trail in the beginning but super enjoyable to climb up the rocks. 5:30-6am is a great time to sit and watch the gorgeous sunrise before winter starts, we’ll be back for sure!!

This is an easy trail with some mild elevation to keep it interesting. Short enough to do even in summer weather in Phoenix. Make sure you bring plenty of water, as there isn't much for shade (though there is a water fountain at a pavilion along the way). Biggest detraction is that it is very poorly marked. We had to rely on the map in this app to stay on trail and even then it was a challenge. On the positive, because the landscape is open desert, it's easy to see where you've been and where you're headed, so you're not likely to get lost. Great trail for beginners or those who just want a quick outing. Despite being a holiday, it wasn't crowded so while we saw other people, there was no unintended company.
