The Cottonwood Peninsula Trail At Willow Lake is an easy out and back spur trail off of the Willow Lake Trail. Depending on the water level of Willow Lake this trail may not be visiable as it will be under water. There are signs that warn to use caution on this trail. If the trail is useable, it is well worth the time to see many unique bird in the Prescott area.

Nice short hike with the family. I was contemplating on going around the lake but changed my mind at the last minute. The rock formulations were interesting. The trail was very doable, not as rocky as I’m used to. I’m looking forward to other Arizona state hikes as this was my first.

I would recommend this hike for beginners. This hike has no shade until you get into the peninsula. You can see the cotton falling from the trees on to the ground, kind of looks like snow which is cool. The map is sort of confusing on this, it's easy to follow but keep it open so that you keep going all the way till you are in the peninsula. One of the best things about this hike besides the view of the lake was all the herons flying over above the trees.

This is an okay trail when dry but the ground is filled with burrs and isn't too dog foot friendly. Evening hikes are very buggy.
