This is a fun, moderate hike that has a well-defined trail. Along the trail are many different desert plants, la cholla, prickly pear, sahauro, and desert shrubs. The first half of the hike, you will have a constant view of rugged mountain ridges. The second half of the hike will drop you down and right along a wash/creek bed that you will cross four times. During the monsoon season (May- August) the wash will be full of water, so be careful when crossing. Also remember that this is the desert and with it comes desert critters (snakes, scorpions, etc.) Keep your eyes open and you will be fine, and remember to drink lots of water!! During the summer months the best time to hike, would be in the morning hours.

As this is one of the only well managed and well-trafficked dog-friendly hikes, I absolutely love it. My dog freely plays in the water and I'm not worried about cactus or broken bottles. We do the Canyon Loop easily. If you go now there isn't going to be much water or shade.

It was an easy and quick hike, with lots of water. Be prepared do river crossings. My dog absolutely loved the water crossings!!

Very nice and easy hike, awesome views, and the stream is running. You will have to cross it 5 times and there is no bridge so you will get wet, but worth it and does get a lot of visitors.

Beautiful trail along creek most of the time, and great views of the Catalinas. Wildflowers too. Expect to get wet during snowmelt or rainy season. You have to cross the creek like 5 times and when we went (2 weeks ago) it was knee to thigh deep. Great if it's hot out, not so great during the winter. I'd give it another star if it wasn't so crowded. There are way better places than this to have a nice water hike with your dogs.

lots of water but beautiful trail. great with the dogs too. some thinner trail areas but overall lots of room for passing safely

Well kept trail. Be prepared for wet feet since you cross the river a few times especially if there has been a recent rain. The reason I gave this 3 stars is because this is, in my opinion, a heavily trafficked trail and not really what my dog and I were looking for. I hiked it on a Tuesday and in the 2 miles we met with at least 20 other hikers. It also should have an EASY rating since each elevation change is supported with well maintained steps. FANTASTIC for older hikers, kids, young dogs learning to trail and people who want a quick nature walk. A little misrepresented in the app description.

Fun trail with plenty of markers and great for kids, there was a wildlife exhibit showing local snakes, scorpions and other creatures. Not sure if it’s every Saturday of the year, but in February it should be.

Fun trail for dogs on leash. I had two of them and they loved it. The Sutherland Wash had water in the creek (seasonal?) and there were plenty of things to stop and smell. Parking was limited and the trails were semi-crowded, although maybe not for a nice Saturday morning. Hiking counter-clockwise will give you a short climb at the beginning, right after crossing the wash. After that it's easy and gradual, appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. This is a nicely groomed trail that pretty much anyone can do, and has enough traffic for those who hike alone to feel safe. Very pretty, and basically in Tucson, so convenient as well. Enjoy!

Really nice walk with lots of views. Pleasant walk by streams and mountains. There are spur trails that go further up the mountain for even more views and more challenge.

We didn't have much time for a hike, but the weather was good and we wanted to view the quintessential cactus landscape on the desert southwest. This loop was a perfect find. It was pretty heavily attended by hikers of all ages, runners, and dogs on this Saturday afternoon. Although the tracks were fresh and prevalent, we didn't encounter any cyclists or equestrians.

Easy hike with terrific views; good for dogs, families, and geocaching. Great in the evening as the sun lights up the mountains. Fall colors are beautiful right now along the wash.

Love this trail. Some great views and terrain. A few little streams to cross too. It’s never too busy but you do see a few friendly people along the way!

too crowded but if u take some of the side loops that show up on this map it's more scenic & fun.

This area is too crowded for my taste. Great if hiking alone, I suppose, since there are plenty of people around.

This trail is flat and easy I recommend it for all ages. But know you might get your feet wet because you cross a creek twice. This trail is a nice walk and it is very relaxing.
