I explored both the North and South rims for a few days and these were probably my favorite views of the Canyon. Trail is easy, drive is enjoyable to get there, and the trail is a walk in the park. Plus, the crowds are not near what you see in other places. Would recommend if staying at the North Rim!

Arguably one of the best views of North Rim (we hit all the major viewpoint options). We didn’t pass any people on the way up, and basically had the cape final peak to ourselves for close to an hour. Easy hike, have to climb some rocks to get to the almost 360 degree viewpoint.

Twisty, narrow road through pines and aspen to the trailhead. Spectacular view of the canyon and mesas beyond. Way different than the south rim

Hike in the forest until you arrived at a beautiful, amazing view. There a lot of rocks on the trail. Around 2h for the hike.

This was a wonderful hike for the whole family. The forest is beautiful and peaceful and then there were several vista points over the canyon with spectacular drops and good visibility across the canyon. We really enjoyed it.

If you have the time to get there, do it! It’s a bit of a drive to the trailhead, but worth it! Easy hike, gorgeous views!

Hiking

Easy hike through a pine forest until you come out into a high sonoma scene with scrubby bushes and cactus. The last quarter mile or so has several great overlooks (with no railing!) and views up and down the canyon. There is a campsite near the end, which requires a permit, but it would be great for photographers waiting for the perfect light. Pack plenty of water if you're staying overnight, because there are no obvious sources on this trail.

Easy, mostly shaded, mostly flat. Lots of pretty purple lupine carpeting the forest floor. Nice payoff at the end of the stroll: great GC views.

Easy hike through the woods to some beatiful views of the canyon. A lot of rock outcropping along the edge let you get some spectacular pictures. The scenic parts of the trail are not child friendly

The trail is an easy walk through the forest. Prettier than the Uncle Jim Trail with a few more viewpoints, but they are both similar. The trail itself is likely nicer in the summer with a few wildflowers, otherwise it is a form of getting exercise while getting rewarded at the end with a nice overlook. In November, it provides wonderful solitude. I had the trail and viewpoint to myself which I enjoyed. For more details and pics: https://etbtravelphotography.com/2018/11/13/grand-canyons-north-rim/

There is so much nicer hikes! The distance is "long" for such a view. If you do it because you want the miles, I'm sure you can find a more rewarding hike. There is really mostly just the end that is nice. The trail is very easy. It's probably a nice place for sunrise

Nice point overlook at the end. Mostly shaded the entire dintance. Good for families with small children as there are no sharp dropoffs to worry about until the very end.

A pretty hike through the forest to sweeping vistas. There are a couple campsites at Cape Final - would be great to see the sunset and sunrise this way.

Cape Final is one of my favorite trails on the North Rim. It is an easy out-and-back hike that winds through the forest before reaching an excellent cliff view. While it's true that the scenery along the forest trail is rivaled by other trails, and there are more demanding trails for adventure seekers, none offer the same combination of solitude and excellent views while also being so manageable. Although you are likely to encounter other hikers on this trail at some point, the foot traffic is much lighter because it is one of the last trails along the main road. As such, you will need to take a long, winding drive to the back end of the park to reach the starting point. But, the payoff of that drive is the opportunity to have a hike through the forest with only the sounds of the wind whistling through the trees, and a chance to have one of the North Rim's best overlooks all to yourself. Additionally, one lucky group per day is awarded a backcountry permit to camp at the overlook. If you have the good fortune to nab it, you'll watch the sunrise and sunset over the canyon, and have (weather permitting) all of the landscape and astrophotography opportunities your heart could desire. Don't miss out on your chance to hike one of the North Rim's best.

An easy to moderate out and back hike with excellent views at the end. Took us about two hours total walking at a reasonable pace and stopping at each of the view points to enjoy the sights. Parking lot not crowded at 10 am when we arrived but almost full when we returned at Noon.

We found this to be an easy trail with a few moderate uphill sections. The beginning of the hike through the forest is unremarkable (as opposed to the hike throught the forest on the Widforss Trail, which is spectacular), but the reward awaits you at the top. The views are breathtaking and the traffic on the trail is very light. It''s a good way to get way to get away from the crowds at Cape Royal (though don''t skip that trail just because there''s a lot of folks on it...it''s too great to skip!)
