This is a fun, moderate hike that has a well-defined trail. Along the trail are many different desert plants, la cholla, prickly pear, sahauro, and desert shrubs. The first half of the hike, you will have a constant view of rugged mountain ridges. The second half of the hike will drop you down and right along a wash/creek bed that you will cross four times. During the monsoon season (May- August) the wash will be full of water, so be careful when crossing. Also remember that this is the desert and with it comes desert critters (snakes, scorpions, etc.) Keep your eyes open and you will be fine, and remember to drink lots of water!! During the summer months the best time to hike, would be in the morning hours.

Very busy trail. A lot quieter during the week but easy and has water crossings very pretty.

too crowded but if u take some of the side loops that show up on this map it's more scenic & fun.

This area is too crowded for my taste. Great if hiking alone, I suppose, since there are plenty of people around.

This trail is flat and easy I recommend it for all ages. But know you might get your feet wet because you cross a creek twice. This trail is a nice walk and it is very relaxing.

Really easy

This is a beautiful, mostly very easy trail with one steep hill to get down. It is also very crowded with people and dogs and horses, which can be fun or stressful or fun depending on how everyone gets along.

Should be rated easy.

Always a fun, short, easy walk. great views of Catalinas. Some years, there is enough water to enjoy walking by the stream.

Loved this easy trail that winds through the base of the mountains, through river beds and lots of cactus and boulders. Some inclines with some shade but mostly open sunshine. Our little dogs loved it too. Looking forward to hiking it again.

Nice easy trail, some steps but not hard. Very enjoyable. I did the birding trail and then picked up the loop for a total of 3.3 miles in 1.5 hours.

Cute, easy trail with a long stretch of riparian area (I recommend saving that side of the loop for the end as it is easily the most beautiful part).

Very heavily trafficked as you might expect and the trail is big and wide. This one is not for the times when you want to feel like you are in the wilderness!

Take water! Crisscross creek-beds, saw deer, cacti. Some portions very rugged, boulders as trail. Needed trail wear, not sneakers and yoga stretch pants. Very quiet, serene.

Fantastic day hike! Storm rains caught us about 3/4 of the way thru - much appreciated with Summer! Very well marked by State Parks crews. Lots of green everywhere after the recent rains. We will definitely be back to do more trails in Catalina State Park.

A great mix of desert views. Best during monsoon season when the water is flowing. It makes for a great trail run.

Beautiful hike! I would rate this hike as easy. My Map My Hike app was not working but I hiked an hour in and an hour back out. Maybe it gets harder further in? Water is flowing. Lots of flowers and quiet and peaceful!

The Canyon Loop Trail was very enjoyable. A large part of it is like a road of beach sand. Much preferred the rocky part of the trail. Great treat to have it go along the creek side and I actually have to cross water. Many wildflowers. Beautiful scenery. Variable landscape-- rock, creek, cactus, grasses. Recommend!

Not a difficult hike, tricky if rainy though because dry beds become wet beds very quickly. Very scenic

72 degrees. Moderately used trail at the time I hiked, early afternoon. The trail was spectacular. Last half of the hike was along the stream. The sound of the running water made the hike more enjoyable. Wonderful scenery. Like others have noted this trail is on the easy side of Moderate.

Nice easy trail.

Moderate trail that borders on easy. Minimal elevation change. Wide and flat for the most part. Scenic. The hardest part is crossing the washes if you desire dry shoes.

Peaceful, Gorgeous, Outstanding; what more can I say. The hike was everything anyone can ask for, definitely fun for a family bonding. I took some of my relatives after the three-four day rain that we had in Tucson, Arizona and it was a attack spectacular experience. The trail runs back and forth through the stream, even though it was cold it was a blast.

If you're looking for a family experience this is the one. If you're looking for a challenging run this is it. If you're looking for a trail that allows dogs this is definitely your trail.

And without further ado; happy trails!
