Love this ride for a short 1 1/2 tops ride to the falls and back. Horses can get a drink and you can lunch/snack at the falls. I like the entrance off Cave Creek Road just past the entrance to Tonto National Forest. You catch the Blue Wash here (going east stay to right on trail) and it intersects the Camp Creek Wash at the American Flag. Left to the end where falls are located. Small but easy turn around for trailer. Usually bump into other riders or hikers. Easy on horses feet until near the falls when the rocks appear, but still easy to navigate. You can ride the Maricopa Trail (go right at the intersection) too and it's a beautiful part of the trail.

Living in Carefree I have logged 5000 miles on my dirt bike on every motor vehicle trail up here and hiked quite a bit. This hike is better from the parking lot under the power lines just before Sears Kay Ruins. You can hike many of the horse trails on the hills or the blue wash trail. I prefer the up and down single track trails better than the sandy washes. If you do come from Camp Creek Wash on Bartlett Dam road you need to stay right once you get towards the end. Another poster made the easy to follow left that took them to the green water coming out of the ground area which is West of Camp Creek. You know your going the wrong way when you see the green rusty poles and foundations used to keep jeeps out of the trail. Plus its very sandy, the camp creek wash has more rocks. The waterfall flows pretty much year round and you can climb past it and hike along the creek if you want. But at some point you need to turn back or you will hit Sears Kay Ranch which is private property.

One of the few hikes close to phoenix that has running creek and water.

coon creek, not camp. walk up the wash, staying left when there is a choice, EXCEPT when u c the American flag. stay right, near it. There is another trail that comes in from the left wash, by another flag. soon u should c water, gorgeous and amazing.

Cool local hike. I taught a transformational yoga hike here to 15 adventurous souls. The hike is easy. It rained that night and morning so the falls were going good!

I did the trail as shown on the map. I don't know where all these people saw a waterfall lol I got to the end and there was only a small puddle of green water with a wasp infestation. I did go in June so not sure if that has something to do with it. Be prepared of walking the whole trail in sand.

Great day hike. Cool rocks and trees to climb around in. About 1.5 mi in we hit the water and from there to the falls, ware shoes were helpful. The falls were beautiful and perfect for a family adventure!

Can lose the trail at times in the wash.

The preceding weeks rains left running water shortly after the hike's start. Lots of crossing back and forth if you want to avoid wet feet (we did both) but fun regardless. We took a detour up a small ravine to follow a small water course which gave us a great view of the trail below. Waterfall at the end was a beautiful spot to enjoy lunch before hike out via Blue Wash Trail. Our total hike was 9 miles of beautiful scenery and some diverse hiking terrain. Highly recommend it and AllTrail app was flawless.

Great hike, not to tough with nice reward at the end. Had some great water flow due to the rain last week. Will do it again!

Easy hike. Should be noted that it's through a wash, so LOTS of deep sand. If there's water like today, your shoes will get wet as you have to cross a small 'stream' several times.
