This trail has a fairly gradual ascent until you reach the upper section. You can get some great views of the surrounding area. Parking can be difficult but it is easier the earlier you go.

Loved this hike! Challenging yet very doable for all skill levels. I was sore for 2 days afterwards. Great view from the peak. Very heavily trafficked and parking was very difficult.

This was a great 6am hike. The sunrise at the top was amazing! It’s a nice workout and legs will get some good work in. Steep and fun!

Great short hike to do while visiting town! Not too short, not too long, and just the right amount of gain. First half of the trail was like any other trail, while the upper half was fun with all the scrambling. Conditions were great. Nice and sunny and in the 70's. I brought 1.5 liters of water and only went through 1. I definitely recommend trail runners or boots, I was surprised with how many people were wearing trainers and slipping all over the place.

Worth the view. We prefer the Cholla side to Echo. Feels less hectic and less scrambling. Plus, getting to the 2/3 point at the Heli Pad still gives an excellent view and you avoid much of the scrambling. Parking can be tricky on weekend.

Trial is open again after the incident a few days ago. Just hiked it this afternoon! I went up Echo and came down Cholla. Definitely recommend water, snacks, good gripped shoes (I used Reebok CrossFit shoes and they worked great for me), and good cardio condition!

This trail is very steep and would advise hiking boots. You have to park down on the road. Can be quite a ways from trail head. VERY busy trail. I think I prefer starting from the echo canyon side

Very challenging trail. I would recommend sturdy shoes with grip, gloves are not a must like some say, but bring a lot of water.

This is an incredibly beautiful but challenging hike. My friend and I are both 60 years old and experienced Anza Borrego desert hikers. While it is not a long hike, we agree it should be ranked as difficult. The bouldering makes it fun with plenty of foot and hand holds to help you. The 360° views at the top are worth the climb any day. There is very little loose gravel so slipping on the way down isn’t an issue. You should definitely wear good hiking shoes to grip the rocks you climb over. We both carried two liters of iced water in our hydration packs and drank it all. Bring an energy snack and wear a hat you can strap under your chin, it’s windy in some parts.

Started and ended recording at the car. Excellent and challenging hike! Beautiful views all the way up. Use hiking shoes to prevent slipping on the way down.
