If you want to do some hiking at Picacho Peak, and you're not ready to do that vertical climb up Hunter trail, Calloway is a nice, easy, short, way to experience this beautiful park.  The trailhead for Calloway and Hunter start at the same place.  There is parking for about 20 cars, and room for more at the lower parking lot.  The Calloway trail is about .42 mi one way, and ends at wonderful overlook.  The trail itself is well maintained, but a little rocky in places.  This would be a good place to take your mom for a taste of Arizona sunshine!

Pay attention to the trails. Sometimes it’s hard to tell where it’s leading you. Bring lots of water and sunscreen as there is not any shade. Water spicket at the bottom if you get desperate.

Nice trail that won’t tax you too much. Would like to come back when the wildflowers are in bloom.

This was a great trail. If you want to make it longer, you can take the spur trail (moderate) that connects it to the Nature Trail (a loop). I am estimating that it added another half mile total to the overall distance.
