Beautiful trail! I’d recommend a 4x4 if you go but a SUV with a lot of clearance will also be fine.

Terrific trail. No issues or challenges that a 4wd can't handle. I did see some 2wd folks out there... pretty impressive, but must have been a rough drive. I have taken this trail 2x.

Had a blast. Will definitely go again. One area had water going pretty fast, Jeep and trucks had no problem getting through. Really rocky areas, so be prepared to be bumped around ha but we had a great day out there. No problems. And the Sheep’s Bridge at the end was super cool. Great for pics.

Trip over the mountains was fun. Narrow trail & semi-blind curves require you to be aware. Beautiful country.

took Cave Creek rd in and went down to Sheeps Bridge. Came out thru Bloody Basin rd to I-17. It was late evening when we started and dark by the time we got out to I-17. Good trip and decent roads.

Very muddy and slippery. Be careful turning some corners, you’ll wash out.

A classic Arizona drive! If you have any interest in off-road driving, this should be one you check off your list right away. It's a relatively tame drive for much of it, although it gets a LOT rougher east of the intersection with Seven Springs Road (i.e., from there to the Sheep Bridge). A high-clearance 4x4 is always recommended, but realistically the portions closer to the I-17 are relatively tame and you shouldn't be afraid to check them out even if you're driving something a little less rugged. There's an abandoned cabin, Native American ruins, and plenty of incredible views out here. Lots to explore. Great

Accidentally messed up and took the trail all the way from cave creek rd. You can either take the 17 and catch it from there or if your coming from Phoenix take cave creek rd all the way through and catch bloody basin from there. Made it in a regular height and tire sequoia.

Had a great day going across to Sheep Bridge and back to Cave Creek. Worth seeing!

Took Bloody Basin Road from I-17 all the way to Sheep Bridge and back. 4wd is not necessary but be prepared for a long drive. Plenty of spots to stop and take pics, take a break for lunch or camping areas and the last 1/4 before Sheep Bridge gets kinda rocky/bumpy so your speed will slow down. Sheep bridge is a great place to wander and explore.

Great day trip. Probably good idea to have high clearance but 4WD not usually needed.

Finished the last 1/3 of Cave Creek, all of Bloody Basin (FR269), to I-17 in the dark... in my Kia Sorento. I need to go back through int he daylight to get some photos of the view; which I imagine must be spectacular.

Finished drive today between Cave Creek Rd (FR24)', west on Bloody Basin (Fr269) to I-17. Road was in worse shape than expected. Many ruts and signs of recent erosion. Scenery is nice. Not many other vehicles, but this was a weekday in the winter so that's not a big surprise. Will do again, but will plan for more time to complete the trip.

Long ATV ride! Take extra fuel, water and proper clothing! The hot-spring is hidden down the hill, north of the sheep bridge in the reeds. Only saw one other vehicle on the way in.

Mon Nov 14 2011

Bought my new 2011 Jeep Unlimited Wrangler thru the tail and had no trouble at all. All the ruts are cleaned up and the road is well maintained. This trail should be added to Sheep Bridge and Crave Creek Road Trail.
