We backpacked. The trail was very beautiful and not as hard to follow as others have stated. There was 2 tricky spots that we had to gps it. be aware, there is not alot of water on the trail. Dane creek is dry. Just past the sign that says .5 miles to buck springs cabin, there is a small stream there. I would advise filling up there as the water was amazing. Ok so for the bad. Make sure to bring a pack cover and rain poncho as it seems to have afternoon rain in the area. We wanted to hike to the Buck Springs Cabins but were unable to find them. We came to the sign that says .5 miles to the cabins and hiked further than that but never found the cabins. I am so bummed. Does anyone know where we went wrong???? please help!

Beautiful up and down trail but not as bad as the mapping looks, beautiful meadows. Use Apple Map rather than Google Map... it’s a straightforward FS95 off the highway, stay right on 95 at the bridge, then left on 139. Google says to turn left on 95D a ways after the bridge, nothing there. Well maintained dirt road.

Amazing trail. Great walks through forest meadows while listening to birds all day. The trail was not as hard to follow as others suggested. Lots of signs, cairns, and arrows pointing the way. On two or three occasions I did consult my GPS to ensure I was walking the correct direction. Can’t wait to go backpacking in the area.

Beautiful! As others have said, this trail is VERY difficult to follow in several spots. I paid for the pro version of all trails and we were so thankful to have it. Even with your phone on airplane mode, your gps dot follows you on the downloaded map so you know when you're off. We weren't sure we could complete it in the time we had and other reviews said the back half was better (IT IS) so we parked on FR137 and went backwards. Running water, park-like greens, shaded the whole day. We'll be back for sure.

Love this trail. Quiet and off the beaten path. Saw no one else in the trail. There were little brooks flowing and the scenery was gorgeous. We hiked up a peak and down the other side and then up again and down. Serene and tranquil with lush forest and then stunning large meadow.❤️

The biggest recommendation I have for this trail is a map or GPS. The trail itself is very hard to stay on. Some parts are obvious but others can be very tricky. I read a lot of hiking blogs that helped because they gave turn by turn directions. But I still could not finish the trail because I kept losing it. And I needed to turn back before night. The dirt road to the trailhead is also very easy to get lost on. There is no cell phone service so be aware of that. I was able to drive the trail with the sedan but it got really bumpy. Very peaceful hike. Really in the middle of nowhere.
