From the center of the Village of Oak Creek at Highway 179, turn west on Verde Valley School Road for just over 4 miles, through town and past the school on to a parking area. Do not turn off this road, but continue forward. The trailhead is across road at the north end of the lot.

Beautiful mixture of both red rocks and forest feel. Great and easy loop to do and connects to other scenic trails and creeks as well.

Definitely not a kid friendly hike. My son got tired not even half way threw because he got tired of climbing and not trying to wall. Definitely and easy hike for adults.

Used this trail as a warm up shortly after arriving in Sedona, easy to access from Verde valley school road. Minimal elevation change and a mixture of plant life, without much effort you can access Oak creek by a unmarked side trail.

Ambitiously, we decided to add the Baldwin Loop to our day long hike on Templeton trail. We sensed a vortex behind Cathedral Rock, just before the Hiline trail marker. We continued clockwise loop, exploring the rock saddles on the south end and making up names, like “midget Easter island men” and the happy Buddha face for rock formations above. After this loop we hiked back on to Templeton trail.
Although the trail is not clearly marked in some areas, we always looked for the MTB tire tracks or shoe prints in the dirt gravel or the worn down rocks paths.

Easy trail but really hard to follow as it’s not marked well.

Nice easy trail for a short morning walk, about 2.5 miles around the loop. There are some steep rocky stairs in a couple of places. Watch out for the Mountain bikers.

We did this along with the templeton and cathedral rock. A nice little detour but not the best view over there.

The Baldwin Loop has some good views of Cathedral Rock, and was a super good trail for someone just starting out on their hiking journey (me), but was bit boring, poorly marked, and involved clambering over a lot of loose rocks. Would skip this one on the next visit.

Nice hike with great views. Be sure to hike out to the white rock in the center of the Mesa for even better views.

Easy 2.1 loop to do with the family. Trail can be rocky at times and there is some moderate climbing for kids. Great views.

Easy trail with lovely views. Be sure to use the app to track your progress because there are several dry washes that look similar to the trail and it is easy to get off track. The trail is well-maintained and easy to walk on. Many places to take pictures with red rocks in the background.

Easy trail that has varied scenery. We added the early part of the Templeton Trail before returning to Baldwin Trail. This is a very nice bonus. The eastern half of Baldwin goes along the backside of Cathedral Rock.
