Up the Arch Canyon Trail and through the unmaintained section (marked with cairns) to the top of the canyon - incredible views!

*NOTE: can’t get close to the arch from this trail! Fee to enter this part of the park. Breaks off of Arch Overlook Boulder trail. Once you reach the sign Arch Canyon Trail, level 1 scramble. Path was really hard to follow, many of the cairns were knocked over- we fixed the ones we could. We wish we had known you don’t reach the arch at the end of the trail- that was a little disappointing and misleading lol.

Completed on 03/01/2020: Awesome and beautiful trail taking you into the canyon with and abundance of wildflowers lining the trail. The first part of the trail is fairly flat with minimal grade. Once you get about 0.6 miles into the canyon, the trail begins to ascend steep rocks which makes for a fun scramble. There are a lot of loose rock to watch out for when climbing and sturdy hiking boots are always recommended. The trail is very easy to follow with many cairns leading the way to the top. Once at the top, you unfortunately aren’t able to see the arch, but the views are amazing! The second portion of the trail was very secluded as most people stop after the 0.6 miles making for a peaceful hike through the canyon. The road to get to the trailhead is rocky and unpaved, however pretty flat and easy to manage. We have AWD but we saw many people there in sedans make it with no problem. There is a small parking lot for about 10 cars and the trailhead is right off the parking lot.

If you enjoy some mild scrambling this is a fun little trail with beautiful views from the top! You don’t see the arch from the top, though.

First half of the trail is a easy trail with good views of the double arch. About half way there is a steep rock scramble (we were not even sure it was the trail), followed by a moderate rocky trail hike. We were short on time and did not complete the trail, as we heard from others coming down the top does not actually go to the arches. Cannot review the entire trail, but based on what we saw (3/4 of trail), I much preferred bull pasture, estes.

The trail was hard to see at times...was glad I had the map downloaded. The map takes you to the top, but my goal was the natural bridge off to the right...well worth the hike!

I definitely used my poles to take the pressure off my knees. This is a short but hard hike. hard in that there are steep rock scramble pitches.

Outstanding views well worth the climb! Always save an offline AllTrails map! It is very easy to miss the trail down from the top, especially if you plan to take in the many off trail views available. The cairns are hard to see in certain terrain and there is no cellular service. Final advice - Allow six hours for the trip, start your hike at 9 AM to get the best sun for photography, and bring binoculars.
