I started from the north end of the trail. there were a lot of cattle on and around the trail. that was fine, except it seemed like I was chasing them. the day started a bit cloudy. I turned back hoping to miss the rain, that didn't happen. if I were to hike this trail again, I would start on the south end.

This trail, as well as all of the Baldy trails are closed for road construction on highway 273. 273 is the road from Sunrise ski area to Big Lake. This trail is open from the trailhead on highway 260 to just a half mile or so past the intersection with Forest Road 87. If you are familiar with the trail this intersection is where the trestle bridge is. It is not quite spring in the White Mountains, nothing was greening up or blooming and there is still snow on north faces or shaded areas. The trail was snow free, but all around. All in all, a very enjoyable morning of hiking.
