Alamo Springs hike is located near Tortolita, Arizona. The trail is great for hiking and normally takes a half day. Great hike early in the morning before it gets too hot. Be sure to check out the old line shack and look down the well.

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. trail!! We didn't complete this trail due to a slower pace so I am most anxious to go back and do it again. The only issue I have is that i don't think the mileage is right for this. We started out on Wild Burro to Alamo Springs on the way to the Alamo Springs Cut off and after 4.15 miles (gps tracking) had not gotten close to the benches shown on the park map. Does anyone know if they are still there? Also, my gps tracked path didn't look anything like the map shown here. Still...an awesome hike, even on an 80° day!

The trail is well defined and maintained. However, dog owners beware, the wild burro portion of the trail has lots of fallen cholla on the ground and cholla right next to the path. We cut through the wash back to the parking lot on our way out after we exited the lower javelina trail portion to avoid the cholla.

To get to the start is a little confusing. Take the Wild Burro trail until you get to an opening with a picnic table and an information board. While looking at the informational board go to the right, you’ll see a trail marker for Alamo Springs and Javelenia trail. The trail will split shortly after to the right and it’s a decent climb from there. Nice scenery. Our dog did well.

The map, and elevation gain listed are incorrect. We started at the parking area, walked Wild Burro to Alamo Springs trail to Alamo Springs spur and returned via Wild Burro. The map showed us off trail most of the time. My gps showed 6 miles and 1266 elevation gain.

Very well marked trail, beautiful rock formations with some volcanic rock. Enjoyable hike, not too difficult but great work out.

Hiked this last week. The recent rains have the wildflowers almost ready to burst out. Nice trail with some rocky inclines but nothing too difficult. The views are surprisingly awesome. Will need to do this again soon before it's too hot, and next time will bring the dog.

We did this northbound to the spur and back along Wild Burro. Fabulous views and a really well maintained trail.

We did it clockwise. Nice walk through desert and wash to some stone ruins. Steep incline up Wild Burro Trail with nice views. Old ranch site at top of the canyon with large rock formations and an overlook. If you follow the Wild Burro Trail all the way to the Wild Mustang Trail, the terrain changes to a flat desert pasture.

Beautiful Hike

The only downside was the walk on the wash trail to return to the trailhead.

Awesome trail! Awesome views!! A must see!!

Hiked the Alamo Springs loop northbound and took the Spur back toward the trail head. It rained super hard the night before so the trail was really clean and the ground was somewhat packed down. Great trail for a few hour hike...bring lots of water for this 6 miler.

Great, beautiful hike! We got lucky with cloud coverage in the morning so the heat wasn't that bad. I'm glad we followed the Alamo Springs trail first rather than following Wild Burro first. Wild Burro was just the floor of the canyon where Alamo Springs was a beautiful, rocky hike. A swarm of bugs kept following us which was a nuisance but this was very enjoyable!
