Pretty easy. Definitely a mile hike before the trail. Had to go thru construction up a dirt road. Not too bad. Great warm up for the trail!

Had to park outside construction gate then hike up to Adero Canyon Trailhead. Only 6 other cars at 8:30 AM Sunday. The cross-over trail between the Lower Sonoran Trail and the (upper) Sonoran Trail is a bit overgrown in places, but it’s short so not too much trouble.

Wonderful little trail - it is an easy trail once you get to it. As of today the residential new construction adds about one mile of walking on a dirt road - through the residential construction - to reach the trailhead. The trail is easier than the dirt road to access it which is about 500 ft of slow and steady incline to reach the trailhead. Once you are there the trail is well marked and maintained and the views of the entire Valley (Fountain Hills and on toward Phoenix are spectacular. Great short hike.

From the trailhead, We hiked the Promenade Trail to the West Loop trail and then back to Adero trailhead. At this time (January 2020) you have to park outside a construction zone and walk 25 minutes to the trailhead - not particularly scenic. The Promenade trail is flat, short, and scenic. The West Loop trail is 1.3 miles with 500 ft of elevation; this trail is rated “very difficult”. If you are in average condition, the loop is doable - it just takes time. The reward is the incredible hill of cactus and other plants on the downhill side. Easy access from Scottsdale, very few people once you leave the trailhead.

Trail was beautiful I’d actually consider it easy even when you had to do a mile and a half to get to the trail head. Wonderful Sunday walk..

My son and I enjoyed hiking the Andrew Kinsey trail last Sunday from Adero Canyon up to the Sunrise pass and down to the Lost Dog Wash Trailhead. As another hiker noted, access to the trailhead at Adero Canyon is currently limited due to the (canyon altering) development the town has allowed there. Before heading to Adero go to the Town of Fountain Hills website and look under Community Services then McDowell Mountain Preserve and Trails for up-to-date information. Here’s the link: https://www.fh.az.gov/295/McDowell-Mountain-Preserve-Trails Here is text from the FH website: “As of Monday, December 2, weekday access to the Adero Canyon Trailhead will be closed. The closured (sic) is due to heavy hauling in conjunction with Toll Brothers home constructions (six). This closure is expected to last through Friday, Dec 13. Weekend pedestrians (sic) access should remain unaffected. The trailhead is open for pedestrian access from dawn to dusk on weekends; no vehicular access is permitted. Hikers are reminded that no amenities such as restrooms or water fountains are operable at this time.” Enjoy the trail but be aware that access to the trailhead at Adero is limited at the moment.

Very chill trail with great views in all directions. There is some very active work going on to the east of the overlook to extend this trail much further along the ridgeline. I hiked a good portion of this, as well. It'll make this more of an attractive trail for folks looking for more than just a nature walk, which is what it currently is (kind of). Can't wait for Adero Canyon trailhead to open, as getting here via Promenade was less than ideal.

CLOSED! Construction is the cause of the closed road.

Moderate to easy trail with excellent flora display today. Desert poppies still out and owl clover with cacti just getting good.

I was looking for wildflowers and I got them. Took a friend for her first hike and shes hooked. If your a skier, this trailhead has greens blues and blacks. Really great trail for all. I can say enough about the views. I would like to see better bathrooms than porta johns and its a dirt road leading to the trail head.

Very nicely kept trail. Almost no loose rocks or scree. Easy walk with no climbing over rocks. Fantastic scenic views. Relatively short and easy.

This should definitely be rated easy as opposed to moderate. Nicely curated.
