Acer Summit Via Mormon Trail is a 2.3 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Phoenix, Arizona that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Take Mormon Trail to the highest nearby point accessible by trail. Acer Summit takes it's name from the Latin word meaning sharp and strong and gives a nice sense of achievement with gorgeous views.
I loved this route! Perfect for after work. Even though the trail doesn’t have too many markers it’s very clear where to go - the rocks are very well worn making it pretty clear. I wanted to give this one five starts but with all the trash and dog poop baggies left behind I just can’t. I’m seriously confused at why people can’t follow hiking 101 pack out what you pack in.
Great footing today, not a lot of water on the slippery rocks so it was much easier.
We only went to tunnel and back. Still ended up walking 3.5. Great trail. Kids enjoyed it!
did it with 2 kids under age 6.. doable and fun. love the hidden valley tunnel.
Mormon Trail is one of my favorite trails! We did it to Acer Summit and back. It is not very long but rocky and a steep incline. Great hike with the kiddo.
Strenuous First mile climb, Rocky trail, we went counter clockwise on loop, really interesting rocks, saw lot of kids and dogs, our teenagers loved climbing on the rocks
I hiked this 30 minutes before sunrise, getting to the summit just as the first rays came over the horizon. Many locals do this hike and then go back down, but I ended up doing the Mormon trail loop. Lots of trash, dogs and their poop on this trail, though. I kicked some of the poop off the trail and picked up two plastic water bottles. C'mon people, keep our parks clean! When I got back to my car at 8:30am, there were three cars waiting to getting into the parking lot. This small lot fill up fast.
