Nice trail on a Monday when the road is closed to vehicles. Loved seeing the crested saguaro!!! Also spotted a roadrunner. Follow my instagram for more adventures @julie_journeys

Easy for all ages. Short, scenic drive to the top. Hike short, well marked trails up to the "A". 360 degree views including the city of Tucson. Bring a camera with a long lens!

Paved road though there are hiking trails throughout. Dogs allowed. My only issue here is the amount of broken glass and trash around. We have the be very cautious with the dog! It’s mostly uphill, a great workout! Make sure to check when they let cars in because it gets a little hectic with walkers and drivers!

We walked on the road up to the A as it was closed to any cars. You can park at the bottom. It’s a lovely hike up with fantastic views of Tucson.

This is a great paved option for runners and walkers looking to get a hill workout. It is not quite as steep as Tumamoc Hill but still a challenge and offers great views of the city. I would note that you can avoid vehicle traffic and avoid the associated safety risk by doing this trail during times the road is closed to cars. It is completely closed to cars on Monday and before 11 am other days. This is a relatively new change implemented last year (2019).

To clarify, there is a road to the peak and a trail that goes about half way to the peak. The trail begins and ends at the road. Hikers & bikers can choose either path. The trail is very rocky and definitely worth a moderate rating. The road is easy to walk but you have to keep an eye out for cars. I took the trail up to the road, then the road to the peak and the road all the way down. Bikers will find it difficult to control their decent on the trail so help them out by stepping aside. If you drive, please slow down!

My son and I drove up to Sentinel Peak Park and then scrambled up this short trail to summit. It was rocky and easy to slide around on. I recommend hiking shoes/boots. Fantastic 360 views of the city, the Catalinas, and the Tucson mountains at sunset!

Great workout for cyclists. Personally, i start at Cedar St at 0435 and reach the top by 0500 because the foot traffic/heat will be uncomfortable. Totally aware gates/park arnt open till 0900. Caution gates are closed and at bottom of a curve. walking path also has angled turn at gate. Coming down at anything more than 5 mph around that bend is a GUARANTEE crash. Great place to take pics

Very highly trafficked area. The trails are very short but it does have some nice views. I would recommend this hike for a sunset hike

This hike was nice and simple, I took my dog and she enjoyed it, however it was heavily trafficked with a lot of scattered trash despite several trash cans along the trail. A biker who refused to use his breaks coming down the hill screamed at us to move.

Better off going to Tumamoc and not have to worry about the cars passing by.

Walking along the road isn’t great but the sunset, mountain, and city views at the top make it worth it. Park at the lot near the bottom as the park closes at 6pm. Easy to walk out after sunset, but cars still at the top need to wait for the park ranger to open the gate, and it’s a long wait. Great first hike to do or somewhere to take visitors.

can drive up to it almost but there is glass everywhere from broken bottles, definitely not pet friendly because if it unfortunately.

Not a hike, more of a place to drive up to see city views. The hike is 5 min to to the top from the trail. I give the view a 5 star but the hike 1 star

This shows the road loop. There many hiking trails with old mine shafts, bunkers. Good climbs nice single track. A great place to get out so close to town.

Short trail with a scenic view. However it is labeled as dog friendly. This is not the case on the trail, there is broken beer bottle glass across the entire trail. DO NOT bring your dog!

I like to do A mountain in the evenings during the work week. It's a quick and easy way to keep your mountain legs on a low idle until the weekend. I really don't think this should be rated "moderate". It's paved, and while it's a little steep, it is not long. It's not really a trail. You just walk along the road. You have to watch for traffic, as a lot of people come up for the sunset. Many of them are more worried about strutting and posturing than watching the road, but the views of Tucson, especially when the season permits darkness before the 8 o'clock closing time, are pretty cool.
