The trail follows an old gravel road and improved gravel trail over rolling terrain providing flat and easy hiking with a few steeper inclines. This trail is linked to the Ward Creek Trail via a tunnel under Revilla Road, providing access to the Ward Lake Recreation area. The opportunity for a loop hike exists by linking to the Ward Creek Trail via Revilla Road and Last Chance Campground and back through the trail tunnel to the main trailhead. The trail offers views across the valley towards Brown, Diana, and Ward Mountains (L to R). There are some interpretive signs providing educational insight into the ecology of harvested sites and second-growth regeneration. The area has been cleared and thinned at various stages, demonstrating silvicultural practices used to manage post-harvest regeneration. The opportunity for year-round access exists for activities such as hiking, running, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Loved this trail, very easy for a nice stroll. Would be a great place for trail running. Saw some men salmon fishing. Great camping spots too. A few geocache spots too!

Nice and easy hike. Bus stop just across from Ward Lake Road makes getting to and from simple. 1/2 Mile quick hike up Ward Lake Road leads to Frog Pond Trailhead easily connecting with numerous trails in the area. Ward Lake has a loop trail around it roughly just over a mile in length. Nice scenery and very flat wide gravel trails. Bus runs on the hour and this is a great quick hike after visiting Totem Bight State Park. $5.00 all day bus pass well worth it and an inexpensive way to get away from downtown for a few hours.

Nice wide trail. I did it this last spring for the first time, so this was my second time walking it. I had forgotten how nice and gravelly it is (very little mud!!) Neat view of Brown/Diana & Ward/Juno mountains. Could not find the educational/interpretive signage for Site 1 though... wonder what happened to it.

Very nice trail, with many views of the lake, birds, squirrels, even large slugs! The huge trees are awesome! My brother showed us where to view spawning salmon during the month of August.
