The Exit Glacier Area is open year-round. Upon the arrival of snow, usually in mid-November, the road to Exit Glacier is inaccessible to cars, due to a state road closure, but open to winter recreation, including snowmobiles, dogsleds, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fat bikes. The road often remains closed through early May, so be sure to check current conditions if you are visiting during the off season (fall through spring). Start at Exit Glacier Nature Center parking lot. and following the accessible, Glacier View Loop Trail through the cottonwood forest to the Glacier View, a panoramic vista of Exit Glacier spilling down from the Harding Icefield. This one-mile accessible trail loops back to the parking area, or you can turn left at the trail-side kiosk and continue .6 miles on to the Exit Glacier Overlook via the Glacier Overlook Trail.

This was by far the cutest hike I’ve done! The trail is nicely groomed with a few stairs made of rocks. I got almost all the way to the glacier. So worth it!

Did this hike up to Exit Glacier Aug 2019 and there was a black bear on the trail. Go prepared. beautiful hike and awesome to get so close to the glacier!

Road closed from Resurrection River to Exit Glacier until 21May

I'm so lucky I get to say I spent around 5 hours on this hike ALONE. Started at ressurection rover trailhead because of the road closure and walked the road 1.6 miles to the nature center then explored the glacier, all with not one soul to be found. Like everyone says, go see it before it's gone.

Beautiful & sobering. If you want to see Exit Glacier, you'd better go in the next 5 years bc it will be gone.

Not too challenging, so we tried this trail before venturing on the Harding Icefield Trail. Not too scenic, or exciting, but you can get pretty close to the glacier

Did the trail in Aug 2019. Alaska had two major wildfires at that times and smoke was almost everywhere. Due to this the views were not the best, But we still enjoyed the hike. There were warning signs for a mamma bear and her cubs, but we never felt unsafe as the trail was heavily trafficked.

Hiked this trail back in September. Easy hike and pretty epic views. Sad to see how much it has retreated and crazy to imagine the ice being next to the viewing platforms just a few years back. Not sure if they will keep chasing the ice with viewing platforms or just let the ice get farther away from view. Would love to go back and do the big hike here but ran out of time. Also sucky that they don't allow dogs here.

Did this earlier today. Amazing how much the glacier has receded since I was here 7 years ago. Cloudy to begin with & then the sun came out & the weather was great.

Lost one star not for the trail, but for human being. If you have been there, you would know why.

very easy and rewarding to see the glacier. even in the pouring rain with low cloud cover, the view is beautiful. would love to do this again on a clear day. a couple of the passes on the trail were closed due to Mommabear with Cubs being seen.

Easy walk and well marked trail leading to the glacier overlook. We were shocked to see the receding glacier marking by years! Highly recommend everyone to see the glacier before it disappears.

Well marked, well maintained and moderately trafficked. Awesome trail, went half way up the Harding hike and it was raining pretty hard so ended up turning back.
