Even though there are about a hundred paths that look like a trail for the first mile, this is a very easily navigable trail with great views. Would definitely recommend if interested in a longer, steeper day of hiking

Fun trail. Minimal trees on bottom 1/3 so you’re exposed most of the hike. Overall easy trail to follow. This is listed as moderate but if you’re interested in summiting any of the peaks, there is definitely a strenuous flare for the peaks. The views are amazing from the top though! Minimal snow left and it’s all at the peaks.

Went up to black tail rocks yesterday- didn’t do round top like this trail advertises. BEAUTIFUL! Especially on a sunny, clear day... you will get tan!! Only a couple spots of pretty deep snow around 4000ft, however it isn’t that bad if you are comfortable with that. Highly recommend!

A really great hike. Should be noted that this hike doesn’t include Round Top, which you could hike to if you continue behind the peak of Black Tail and follow the ridge to the left. Went up up the front side of Baldy to start, hiked to Black Tail peak and then hiked down the backside of Baldy. My phone tracked us at 7.5 miles. Long hike, but really not too difficult. Minimal scrambling, my dog had an easy time doing this hike. She enjoyed the ground squirrels peeking out of their homes.

Hiked in January. Morning started cold at -8 degrees Fahrenheit and warmed up with the sun to about 3 degrees. Hard crusted snow near top makes for easy scrambling. Made it most of the way the day before with my pug as the last 500 feet of hike became more technical. Would recommend to anyone that finds Mount Baldy to be too quick of a hike.

Perfect after-work hike. Busy parking lot but quiet trail. Steep initial incline, though you’re quickly above treeline with a nice walk along the ridge that flattens out. You can make this hike whatever you want- keep chasing the ridge line up to black tail rocks or just enjoy the 360 views on round top.

Great challenge, but not too difficult. Wonderful view of a lot of the Chugach that’s locked away behind some of the western mountains. Also, please don’t leave your fruit scraps out here. They don’t breakdown as easily as you’d think.

Great trail, this is the peak directly behind the top of Mount Baldy. Above, across the plateau. From the base camp it will appear to be a difficult vertical climb, however looks can be deceiving. Trail pathway zigzag up, so it is only slightly more difficult to climb than Mount Baldy.

Hiked this trail today, it took me 3 hours round trip taking the back side of Baldy up. I stopped at the last ridge before climbing up that last peak, not sure what that peak is called. And then i came back down the same way i went up. It was 6 miles round trip. Absolutely beautiful. Not a bad scramble to get up to the saddle, trail is dry with just a couple muddy spots in the lower areas. Views are priceless.
