Hiked in light drizzle with three dogs. Mountain biking portion of trail was definitely muddy. Pretty views despite cloud cover. Weather probably kept trail nice and open.

Moderate for sure. Would be super fun for those that like ski run trails. Lots of switchbacks and banked turns. Parts of the trail had exposed roots that were pretty rough going. We were mountain biking not hiking.

This hike is great - lots of payoff for little work. I would suggest hiking straight up Power Line and then looping back on the South Fork Rim trail. There’s bikers in this section of the trails quite often, so be cautious. Not overly crowded though and easy to share the trails. If you take Power Line up, you get all of the elevation out of the way and have great views meandering back down on South Fork Rim. Very few bugs in August and the trails were very nicely maintained.

I enjoyed the hike, but it looks like it’s been well groomed for mountain biking, and would be more fun with a fat bike.

This was a beautiful hike to do on a sunny winter day. We parked at the Prospect Heights Trailhead and walked on Powerline Pass and did the South Fork Loop. There were some rolling hills, but the incline was gentle to moderate the entire time. We were rewarded with panoramic views of Anchorage as we walked back down. This is a great hike to take visiting family on. Ice spikes were nice to have, but I think microspikes would have been sufficient as well. The description says 3.8 miles, but we only did 2.5 miles.
