Hiked this trail on December 19th, it was beautiful. The start of the trail had no snow but once you get past the snow line there was about a foot or more. We ended up taking a few trails that hadn't been trafficked so there was a few spots where we were post holing but overall the trail was packed really well. Beautiful river and waterfall throughout the hike too!

Awesome little fact about this trail, it was the first road built in Alaska. Which is pretty cool if you’re into history. It is also a beautiful trail with tons of greenery and waterfalls. My favorite photo point is the washed out bridge and the waterfall beside it.

Finally a break in the rain, time to hike! Several options, chose to mostly follow the stream, beautiful waterfalls cascading from misty snow tipped peaks. And two porcupine sightings.

Hiked this trail a few times. Great hike! Easy to get to. Parking if you drive to trail head. Nasty bugs when it's warm and rhe sun is out. Nice off trails that lead to streams.

This is a great trail as there are so many offshoot trails. Perseverance itself has 2 great waterfalls right at the beginning and one at the very end. If you prepare to get your feet wet at the very end of the trail, you can walk up a little further to see another waterfall. Lots of folks on this trail running, hiking, biking - great for dogs as well as there are many spots for them to get water!

The map is a bit different than what the actual trail is. This has you going on the Red Mill trail which all trails labels the perseverance trail. Super easy trail with beautiful views. Very pleasant and easy for kids, dogs, and beginner hikers.

Easy incline and has cool informational signs along the way. I went early morning and didn’t see anyone else on the trail. Kept my bear spray in hand but saw no signs of bears. I went to glory hole lookout. You could make it longer by hiking to the mine ruins. There are maps along the way so you won’t get lost.

Really great trail with history along the way! Probably will see some runner so give them space. I started the walking from town so it was more like 6 + miles. I took a look at the miners camp ruins which is for the most part overgrown but if you look closely you can find some building structures and a chimney or two.

This trail starts either at the end of the road where the mine entrance is, or farther towards town where the gentle road goes off to the left. For biking, I recommend going up the smoothly ascending gravel road and then when going back down go down the small path to the mine entrance for fun. The initial climb is about 1.2 miles long and goes up approximately 600 feet. There are some rocky sections but they're fully rideable. Stay slow and in your lowest gear and take your time. If you try to go to quickly, You'll likely find your endurance isn't what you think. Once next to the waterfall you saw from the overlook, the trail levels out for a great ride. The downhill run is fantastic. If you have the skill and there aren't too many hikers, you can make it back down in 15. Minutes. Takes me currently about 50-55 minutes to get to the end where the bridge is half washed out.

I hiked this on a sunny afternoon and the scenery was absolutely gorgeous! There are a number of trails that branch off of this trail if you want I extend your hike.

We hiked a little bit of this trail to just beyond Ebner Falls. We walked up Basin Rd all the way from the cruise ship dock in Juneau and stopped at the Last Chance Mining Museum, which is next to the trailhead for this hike. The walk through town was steeper than the actual trail itself, but since we're an active family, the steep town walk wasn't too bad. It took us about 50 min to walk to the trailhead with our two young children. There are several porta potties near the trailhead. We saw a small juvenile black bear on the dirt road up to the trailhead. A ranger had just posted a sign about a large male black bear being in the area when we started the hike, but we just saw that one small bear. We were spoiled with a gorgeous Juneau day, no rain and lots of sun, so there were a lot of people and dogs on the trail, including walkers, joggers, and mtn bikers. The foliage was very green and the wildflowers were just starting to bloom. Beautiful mountain views through openings in the trail at a few points. Wish we could have hiked the whole trail, but we had to get back to the cruise ship dock.

Beautiful trail, not difficult. We hiked to the unfortunately named Glory Hole, which was disappointing. Some lovely alpine and waterfall views along the way made it worthwhile. 16km hike in total (started in Juneau proper).

Be sure and not park in town but drive up to trailhead.

beautiful views the entire way

First stretch is not much fun with direct sun and no views but it is worth every second to take the whole trail! Amazing waterfalls and river views and the scenery at the end makes it all worthwhile. Still quite a bit of snow at the very end of the trail but still passable.
