The Nugget Creek Trail begins at Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area and ends at the Vista Creek Shelter. Most of the hike is through understory vegetation. The trail climbs moderately as it approaches the Vista Creek Shelter. The original shelter was constructed by the CCC in the early 1930's. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/tongass/recarea/?recid=78798
