This trail basically mirrors Rendezvous Peak Trail, but this trail takes a left towards the less used trail at the saddle. The trail is quite easy for most people and there is a small spring fed creek for most of the way up the valley. If you want a good 360 view of Anchorage, Eagle River, and the South Fork Valley this trail will allow that without a lot of effort. You also get a good view of the Site Summit where they used to hold Nike Missiles years ago. As a side note -Do not trespass on the military instillation which borders the trail near the trail head, you could be fined if you are caught. Parking is $5 at trailhead (Arctic Valley Ski Area).

Trail to the left of the Mount Gordon Lyons trail was a bit steep and dry for the most part. It started to rain on the way back down causing it to be muddy and slippery.

Great trail. Easy to find and a great workout. There was one very small and manageable patch of snow left to cross nearing the top. Otherwise dry trail. I have a bad knee and hiking poles were perfect! Views were incredible! My dog loved it too as we were the only ones on the Gordon Lyons side.

The main trail is drying out and other than a short section near the fork, it’s clear of snow and mush. However, I ran into a moose and her calf near the summit (yes, above 3,800’!). I wasn’t expecting that at all, and they matched the rocks. Anyone else encountered high altitude moose?

Great views!! Still quite a bit of snow though.. post hoped A LOT. Shoes were soaked afterwards. I’d recommend saving this hike for the end of summer, not in the spring months.

Views are beautiful. The drive up there is pretty sketchy, a very rocky narrow dirt road with lots of turns on the side of mountain.

Beautiful hike. Loved the rock formations. Snow was slushy with post holing going up but was packed in some spots. Will try to finish in the summer, but went most of the way!

It was a pretty fun trail! We could not finish it unfortunately since the snow got past the top of our boots. Fairly easy though. Probably went in 3/4 of the way. I can’t wait to come back in the summer and enjoy the views :).
