Lots of soft snow, punching in deep in some spots. Beautiful views. About 5 miles RT.

Great hike! A little tough to navigate some spots, but still a good time.

Took steep route both ways. A lil side hugging in one spot but not bad. I also had 3 kids from 3-9 yrs with so it took us awhile.

Longer route not marked well at all. We had to turn around twice. Took the short cut home. The short cut is definitely steep and we probably won’t be taking it up next time.

This trail starts at the end of Monashka Bay Road, in the cul de sac parking area that is the end of the road. The trail head is directly opposite where the road enters the parking area, and has a wooden sign. The trail was recently groomed so is pretty nice and easy to follow. Shortly down the trail and after crossing a small creek, there's a sign for the steep shortcut up Monashka that goes left and the longer distance trail goes right. We took the short and steep one up. The trail is pretty wet, would recommend hiking boots, and after it is wet it becomes very steep. The trail meets up with the other after a mile, and it is the same trail to the summit and back. It can be pretty windy at the top, but is very beautiful. On the way back down, we took the longer and less steep route back to the trailhead. Most of the trail up and down is marked with orange flagging tape, and the way back on the longer route can sometimes be difficult to find but the orange tape marks the correct way. Around our 4 mile point the trail we were on became very very overgrown, there may be a better route just to the left, but it still connected with the main trail. Great hike, lots of bear signs on the lower portions so stay loud.

This is a recording of the steep trail on the way up and the long trail on the way back. Waypoints are marked, including muddy areas and where you have to side hill if you're using the steep route. The steep trail has been groomed recently, the longer trail had some overgrowth (wear pants and long sleeves). Great hike, 1.5 hours to the top with breaks and 1 hr 10min coming back the long way.

some muddy and overgrown areas but by far my favorite hike! I love the views! But be bear aware! I saw one and 5 deer carcasses.

Great hike! Very steep. Don’t do after a rain when muddy. The view is amazing though!

Take the shortcut! We accidentally found it on the way down. Shoot the V, take a left, cross the creek, and head up.

Great trail with amazing views! Some parts are a little steep so if you are scared of heights, it might be a little much but push through to the top for gorgeous views of the mountains and ocean. Some areas were also a little muddy but nothing bad. Definitely a great workout on the legs and lungs!

Awesome views from the peak but trail is not very well marked. We had to double back a couple of times because of several offshoots/forks in the trail. Make sure you use the app to find the correct route. Some parts are muddy.

There’s a bunch of different trail heads, better to go with someone who knows that way up!
