We did this from the Bear Ridge trailhead. The first 0.9 miles are really steep, but then the trail follows the ridgeline mostly and becomes less strenuous, though still with a decent bit of up and down. Trail becomes hard to follow toward the south end of the Ridge, but you can see the rocky summit the entire way, so not difficult to strike out across the tundra if you lose it. The rocks at the peak may be too sketchy for those with a height aversion to climb, but it's not technical climbing at all. The view of Turnagain Arm and the Suicide Peaks is worth it!!! It's close to 6 miles round trip using the northern approach, which took three middle aged ladies in good shape 2.5 hours, not counting pictures at the top.

We went early April and most of the early trail was pretty easy with packed down snow or mud with a few icy patches. The path gets more narrow and steep towards the last 1/4 mile of the trail. That combined with several icy patches makes the top part of the trail very difficult. I believe we were the first hikers this season to go all the way to the top at this point of the year as there were no other footprints to follow. The snow at the top was not packed down and snowshoes are not required but would definitely help. That being said, the summit was not clearly marked. Keep going up until you are above the tree line and go slightly past the trail and you will know it when you see it. Round trip, this trail took us about 60 minutes of leisurely hiking and we stopped at the top to watch the sunset for about 15-20 minutes. Would highly recommend this trail, especially during summer months.

The last trail marker is not labeled correctly, if you want to go to the peak and see some nice panoramic views of the ocean take the left trail! That's about a 2 mile hike I would say moderate, there are done strap parts.
