Stopped 7/25/20 on my way to and from Lake Louise. It's a state campground/park - fee is $5 to park. Area has vaulted toilets, picnic tables, and a nice pavilion and lookout. Trail is well defined and signs along the way tell about local geology and the glacier. Bugs were out (late evening) and though we saw no sign of bears I was concerned and had my bear spray handy. Roots made for possible tripping hazards. I wore our son (chest, outward facing). Even though it is a nice path I don't think even a big wheel stoller would have made the whole loop. I wouldn't recommend a special trip just to walk the loop. I do recommend stopping if coming through, especially if you are visiting AK or have family/friends visiting. The lookouts are beautiful. The lower portion of the loop (right fork as you go out) is much prettier and the grade would be more gradual coming back if you decide to complete the loop. Agree with the easy rating; my husband isn't able to go far and he did it with me.

This is a cute little hike for people who think they like hiking but don’t really. A distant view of the glacier with a less than captivating view of the river. Great for kids.

This trail was beautiful, it starts off with a wonderful view of the glacier. The perspective of the glacier is not understood until you see the small ants(people) walking around the base. It is a must, how often do you get to walk on a glacier?

Quick loop with overlooks for Matanuska Glacier. The drive up from Anchorage has amazing views too!
