Very rocky and muddy. Do not recommend on a rainy day. Beautiful views once you reach on top

HikingGreat!

Hike was a quick trip up and down. It’s fairly steep so would recommend trekking poles to save your knees and to keep from slipping. Would not recommend doing this hike during or after a heavy rain, it was a dry day when I went but there was still mud underneath the top dry layer of soil that made it slippery time to time. The trail is also straight up so hiking in the rain will just further lead to erosion of the trail and mountain. No scree which is a welcome reprieve from most Hatcher Pass hikes, some minor rocky parts to go over near the top but nothing technical. I’d rate the hike as moderate just due to the steepness, but the terrain itself is relatively easy to get over.

Definitely steep and slippery even on a dry day like today. First false summit is end of the really slippery, steep part so keep going, it’s worth it! Took about 2.5 hours RT with frequent breaks and about 10-15 mins at the top.

Beautiful views, well traveled trail straight up the Mt. great quick day hike, good for all ages, my 5 year old rocks this hike! If it’s raining stay to the side of the main trail it will get slippery.

Pretty steep incline, easily marked trail, if it’s raining I’d avoid going, the path down is pretty slick!

This is a beautiful hike, what feels like straight up the mountain, it is very steep and like other hikers has stated, the path as been washed away so mostly slopped, difficult to both get up and down but worth the view.

Great trail with a great view, recommend doing this on a sunny day cause it was drizzling on the way down making it VERY difficult. I would rate this a hard hike, it goes straight up the whole way so definitely bring your walking stick or spikes

Great overall, I went a few hours after it rained so the descent was a little slippery, definitely wouldn’t recommend going on a rainier day. I took about 45 minutes to the false peak and another 15 to summit. Expect a lot of bugs, marmots, and a geocache at the top!

Such a fun hike but I recommend going on cloudy day. If raining, it will be slippery coming down. You pretty much go up this hill then along a ridge line to the flag. Super fun! I would do this hike again! I swallowed lots of bugs by accident so bring bug spray and sun block because it was super hot when I went! Oh, and water!!

7/9/2020 Recent rainfall over the past few days has made the trail a tad muddy on steeper dirt sections leading up to the ridgeline. Once the trails dry up it will be perfect, but for now, be careful navigating the trail on your descent. That is when I ran into most of my traction issues.

The views are great. Don’t stop until the very end and there is a surprise waiting for you. I would not recommend this trail when it is wet out. It is very slippery on the way down.

Great hike with lots of views. Hard work to the false peak but enjoyable afterwards. Would recommend to anyone. Perfect trail conditions on 7/1/2020
