Great trail, further back in the valley it gets kinda confusing but there’s enough people to ask where to go you can make it out just fine
Trail was super good, it was a little tricky to get out there but lots of people on the trail were super helpful and we managed to get there
Group hike was supposed to be up Rendezvous Peak Trail but the folks in front had no map and missed the turn off, and just powered straight up the mountain to the road. It looks like a trail, but it's not an official trail. The road at the top connected to the Nike Site Summit with a great overlook of Eagle River and Anchorage.
We had a great hike to the lake today. It took us about 6.5 hours round trip with an hour spent at the lake. As usual, we had the trail to ourselves after the cutoff. The mosquitoes were bad so I recommend cool long pants and long sleeve shirt, and a little DEET wouldn’t hurt!
Only recorded the hike back cause I’m a dumbass and thought I hit record. Great hike, it rained for our return trip so there was tons of puddles. If you pass the lake/end of the home there are two waterfalls and some smaller lakes.
Fun, easy, overnight, it’s a little over five miles to the lake and not steep except for a few short sections. Took two four month old puppies and they loved it. We accidentally missed the turn once we were up in the valley and went all by the way to the back of the valley instead of the lake. There is just a couple of very small lakes. We turned around though and went to the actual lake. It is quite beautiful. There is a small pile of rock that marks the trial split. Then it’s a short steep climb and then the lake. If you pass over a small creek fed by a waterfall you’ve just missed it.
Great trail - beautiful valley views and a spectacular lake at the top. Still spots of snow (that can be walked around), but unavoidably wet and muddy in areas. This made finding the otherwise well worn trail a bit hard to find. Went a bit too far and overshot the trail to the trail up to the lake - it’s located to the right of the waterfall, not beyond. Overall a great hike with stunning views.
Hiked this trail a couple of days ago. The lake at the top is beautiful and views from up there are worth it, although there were a lot of mosquitoes when close to the water. We got a little lost initially after the bridge, but figured it out in the end.
Snow patches with post holing closer you get to the lake. Muddy. Had to bushwhack several times. Lake still frozen but beautiful !! Will be back later in the summer. Bear aware
