Made the top Saturday 11/16/19 during the snow. I definitely needed spikes. Most people making the top did also, but I met a few people who did use spikes...some were pretty uneasy especially on the descent. Took 3 hours round trip. The road was sheet ice leaving the hill with a few cars in the ditches.

Nice trail. Lots of people. Didn’t make it to the top but did the loop around instead.

Beautiful once you get to the top! Be prepared to climb! After what would be considered an easy to moderate trek- you will need to climb using your hands and feet to get to the top!

We took the blueberry trail to the flattop mountain trail. Short but hard trail. Our dogs loved it. Fun and challenging hike!

Stunning views but definitely NEED waterproof shoes/spikes this time of year. 10/13 there is a good foot of snow on the top and coming down is slippery.. be prepared to get your bum and shoes wet! The views from the summit are worth it but trail gets cold and freezes fast after the sun sets. It’s a popular trail for tourists and the local “youths.”

Backside off of Canyon road is nice easy switchbacks. Slow gain. The front side from the main parking area is much more difficult and why this rating is deceiving. Tourists not looking for a difficult climb should find the backside. still 2.25miles but not as steep and no scramble at the top. Great views for a quick hike right in town.

The first 2/3 of the hike is easy to moderate. The last 1/3 is hard with the vertical rock scrambling, but well worth it.

Easy trail until the last piece, then it’s a scramble to the top. Well worth the effort to get up, you’re rewarded with a view that looks over all of Anchorage and most of Cook Inlet.

Beautiful and challenging hike but tourists beware. Although this trail is heavily trafficked, I would highly recommend downloading a trail map beforehand. There are many false paths and it can be disorienting at the top when you're trying to make your way back down. Alaska is on a whole other level when it comes to hiking. Be prepared.

Awesome views. Would rate it hard, not moderate (not from Alaska...). Very steep climbs especially toward the end, with some scrambling.

Climbing up the rocks to get to the American flag was an adventure! The winds are crazy on the top but the 360 view is great. Be prepared to hike up and up.
