ATV’s Sunday- Wednesday and they are loud but mostly have a separate trail. You will share it some, and also with bikers. The walking/biking trail has better views. The lake is beautiful and the trail is flat- easy. Also kayaks for rent. Some of the bikers we saw were carrying guns. There are bears here! We saw a black bear one mile up the Bold Ridge Trail.

Great trail, easy for kids and not experienced hikers. We saw a mama black bear with 2 cubs about 6 miles in. They were on the trail and kept walking on it, so we turned around. Will def go here again!!

We only hiked part way (1.5 miles) alongside the lake. Gorgeous views! Easy walk. We didn't see any wildlife, perhaps due to my noisy kids! Trail was dry and easily marked. There were several bikers and a few ATVs on the trail, but the trail was wide and it didn't bother us.

It was a beautiful trail with spectacular views. We saw a lot of hare and birds- there is a moose with two babes that was aggressive. Stay clear of her. Other than that, highly recommend.

Great trail. Beautiful scenery. Awesome experience! Hiked to the back end of the lake and back out. Hikers/bikers should be sure to take the dedicated non-motorized trails, as they have much better views.

This was a kayak trip out on the water. Mostly a float :) Beautiful spot. Can get windy.

Easy flat lakeside trail which our family has done several times now! We’ve done this in the winter and walked on the lake & I did it yesterday on a gorgeous sunny day. Stunning views the whole time!

This is the prettiest hike I have done in Alaska. When you get to the first look out, what a view! Great smoothed out trail, not wet nor muddy. You hike through the trees most of the hike with a slight view of the lake. Once you get to the bench, wow! Just beautiful. Trail gradually climbs but is still great cardio. A must do!

This trail was beautiful. Went this morning with the pooch and the trail was nice n dry along the lake. Perfect for a trail run or just a nice leisurely stroll!

Wish I'd worn water resistant shoes, but still had a good time stomping through mud in my running shoes (glad I brought extra socks). Took me two hours to go four miles but only an hour and a half to come back because it was a sunny day which dried things up more (it was pretty slow going trying unsuccessfully to avoid the slush and deeper puddles). There were a lot of people around for the first mile or so, but not as many out past that. Beautiful scenery, well worth the slush. There were some good dry patches to trail run, but also sections competely snowed and iced over as well as some that were competely flooded or slushed over. Very adventurous with lots of variety. It was fun. Beautiful sunny day. A lot of people were walking down on the gravel next to the lake, but I don't think they were going much faster than I was.

Wide open path bordering Eklutna Lake. Great place to take visitors for nearby access to Anchorage/MatSu and an easy walk with great views. The description states that dogs and horses use this trail but on certain days motorized vehicles are also allowed. If you want to avoid that (can be dusty when they pass), check the official site: http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/maps/eklutnalaketrailguide.pdf

Took ATVs back but this trail could be easily hiked. It's fairly flat, a few small hills that might be 50ft high here and there through the trail. All rocks and semi-improved roads. Took the machines back as far as the road goes and hiked a bit further. The glacier is too far back to see, but if you climb up the rocks a bit (be careful) the views out to the lake are incredible.
