Great trail! I recommend starting the hike along the river and then go off trail to get back in the trail to continue to the top. you are gaining quite a bit of elevation in a short amount of time, trail starts off just going up and you’ll feel it (especially already not being a little sore). Weather was damp and misty at the bottom, by the time I was getting to the top, the wind and snow were setting in, was walking through a solid 6-8 inches when I turned around to return back to the mist at the bottom. I’ll do this one a couple times with different variations and distances.

Both physically and technically challenging. The view was great all the way through but it wasn’t as good as other trails we’ve done in Alaska. However, there were tons of wildlife. We saw 10+ Dall Sheep, Alaskan ground squirrels and Ground hogs.

Rocky trail that starts before the bridge that crosses the Nenana River. There are a few trail heads that you can choose from. Follow what is marked on the app. There were two small springs farther up on the trail that could be used if need be. There appears to be a few ways onto the Castle at the top, pictures included. There is AT&T service throughout, but I would still download the map.

Very difficult hike, but the views don't disappoint. We ran into some high winds and rain at the top so we didn't make it all the way to the end. Use caution as the rocks are unstable and it gets slick when wet. Highly recommended though if you are up for a challenge.

Barely any snow until after the castle rock. Then a bit on the way over to Mt. Healy. Definitely manageable though. Beautiful views!

Maybe I have been spoiled by the trails inside Denali National Park. This trail is not very well marked or maintained. As such, most people should be prepared to get lost and then, hopefully, find their way. Don't get me wrong, the views from near the top are spectacular and there is a definite sense of accomplishment for scaling a mountain this size with very little navigational help. But, if you are a beginner, please enjoy this hike with someone else - perhaps someone with hiking experience. I loved the hike because it pushes you mentally and physically and then rewards you at the tip of every peak with amazing views of the calley.

Wow! So glad we got a local recommendation to take this hike up Mt Healy. In the end we were a bit short on time to make the final summit climb itself but that did not take away from the views and experience! This is not a beginner hike, with significant and constant uphill grades and rock scrambles with very loose and sharp granite/shale. The weather was very clear and windy! Easily 60+ mph mainly along the lower ridges; enough to make foot placement and balance difficult. If anyone has done Mt Washington in NH, this hike rivals that in terms of wind, exposure, and terrain.

This hike was breathtaking. We had very good weather and the clouds subsided as we got to the top. The views were stunning as we reached every faux peak. This hike definitely earned its hard rating as there were some difficult sections to climb in the broken slate. Definitely would recommend!

We went up Labor Day weekend 2017. As others have stated, it is a moderately steep grade most of the way with several benches to rest on. There is loose rock most of the way. Overall I'd say this is a moderately advanced hike for experienced hikers. Novice hikers will find it difficult. BRING A WINDBREAKER OR RAIN JACKET!! Gusts were about 60mph at the top!!

One of the hardest hikes Healy, AK has to offer. The trail often is at an incline, and the rocks are at times loose. Don't let this steer you away from doing it. Every ridge line has one incredible view after another. Be sure to hike all the way to the "castle" It's totally worth it. At this point expect an extremely steep climb roughly 20 feet up. Once at the top don't forget to sign your name, Enjoy

I would rate this trail as difficult. The assent is very steep and technical. A lot of loose rocks. Same for the descent. Dress in layers. Gorgeous views from several points along the way if you don't want to go all the way to the top.
