Because the climb is fairly steep, it doesn't take long to start getting breathtaking views of Turnagain Arm and surrounding mountains. Worth the effort!

This is considered a pretty difficult trail, but is very doable as long as you pace yourself. There is a lot of steep ups and downs, but relatively little scramble. No technical gear needed. The tricky part is it takes a lot longer than you might imagine, there are at least a few false peaks" before you finally reach the top. Also, it's best to hike with someone and bring bear spray. There have been bear attacks on the trail in the past. Finally, there is usually a five dollar parking fee at the trailhead.

If you're hiking it in the winter, you would be wise to bring some crampons or at least yak tracks to dig into the snow and ice. I end med up sliding all the way down. It's a rough hike up, but beautiful!
