Wildwood Park-East Loop is a 0.5 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Florence, Alabama that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is best used from January until January.
Short loop accessible via the east side of Wildwood Park. Turn left upon entering the park and drive over the small stream. The trail is visible from the end of the parking lot. The trail starts off fairly easy but increases in difficulty further in. The west side of the trail runs along the top of small creek side bluffs. There is an out-and-back branch that'll take you down below the bluffs where there's interesting rock formations and an old running cistern (not sure if potable). The portion of the trail along the bluffs has some dangerously narrow spots covered in leaves. Be cautious of metal stakes in areas where there are old wooden stairs.
The loop trail on the east side of the park is a bit more adventurous w/ branches up and under small creek side bluffs (more advanced terrain though still somewhat easy). There's an old running cistern along the creek under the bluffs (not sure if potable). Overall the trail is not well maintained resulting in some narrow and more difficult leaf-covered areas along the bluffs (could be dangerous though that's what made it more fun). Watch out for metal stakes along the areas with wooden stairs. Spotted a couple of snakes slither off the trail as well.
