Located in Pinson, Alabama, only 15 miles north of Birmingham, Turkey Creek Nature Preserve’s 466-acre’s are home some of the most stunning and unique beauty found anywhere in the Southeast. TCNP was established through a partnership between Alabama’s Forever Wild Program and the Freshwater Land Trust and is co-managed by the Southern Environmental Center (SEC). In late 2008, an agreement was reached with the SEC to setup an environmental education center at the entrance to the preserve. The SEC opened this facility on May 9, 2009 and provides school groups, scout troops, and others with hands-on educational programming. Admission to Turkey Creek Nature Preserve is always FREE, but maintaining it is NOT! Please visit our support page to learn how you can help keep TCNP open.

If you have been here, you know the map above doesn't show all the trails...no worries. This is a really cool and overlooked spot. The trail I took was probably in between easy and moderate but closer to the later. Once you get away from the noise around the falls, it gets real lonely real quick.

This was a nice start to my day this past Saturday. Stopped here before heading over to Talladega National Forest, and it was gorgeous! The trails were labeled perfectly. It’s beautiful in the fall too with all the different colored leaves.

Beautiful place so close to the city! The water is cool year round and beautiful! There are some very nice wooded trails for hiking and trail running as well!

Beautiful scenery and lots of misquitos and ticks.

Great walking trail with the option to swim in the summer months. The waterfall forms a natural "water slide" that is very popular.

It's nice by the water, but a warning to those that are allergic to poison ivy/oak/sumac because there is a lot of it.
