This is a great little Nature Preserve. The trail shown here is a mild amble along the creek side and not what I consider a hike. Other trails not shown here include the Narrows Ridge trail (3.2mi.), the Thompson Trace trail (1.4mi.) and the Handby Hollow trail (0.9mi.). These three trails intersect at several points throughout so it’s easy to get some extra miles. I started at the entrance gate and hiked the Narrows trail, which is a loop, and then drove a very short distance to the Thompson trail head at the Recreation area. From there I hiked Thompson and connected with Hanby which made a loop back to the Thompson trail head. I got about 5 miles overall and thoroughly enjoyed it. There’s also another 0.3 mi paved trail (Highlands Trail) on the other side of the Preserve. The trails are well maintained with clearly marked intersections so it’s impossible to get confused. Go to the Turkey Creek website for hours of operation and to get a trail map ahead of time.

Great beginner trail. Can be crowded near the falls area due to Summer swimmers. Several of the best trails are not listed here which are more like a true hiking experience.

Pretty cool little area. Nice trails along creek and ridge surrounding the creek. Hikers and walkers often bring dogs. Can someone confirm if the first picture is from Turkey Creek? I couldn't find a waterfall of that size or drop and it looks to be from the Sipsey actually...if so, that picture needs to be removed.

If you have been here, you know the map above doesn't show all the trails...no worries. This is a really cool and overlooked spot. The trail I took was probably in between easy and moderate but closer to the later. Once you get away from the noise around the falls, it gets real lonely real quick.

This was a nice start to my day this past Saturday. Stopped here before heading over to Talladega National Forest, and it was gorgeous! The trails were labeled perfectly. It’s beautiful in the fall too with all the different colored leaves.

Beautiful place so close to the city! The water is cool year round and beautiful! There are some very nice wooded trails for hiking and trail running as well!

Beautiful scenery and lots of misquitos and ticks.

Great walking trail with the option to swim in the summer months. The waterfall forms a natural "water slide" that is very popular.

It's nice by the water, but a warning to those that are allergic to poison ivy/oak/sumac because there is a lot of it.
