Tranquility Lake Foothills Loop Trail is a 6.5 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Pelham, Alabama that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Beautiful views of the Oak Mtn Foothills & Tranquility Lake When you enter the Yellow/White connector, it's just a short walk to the Yellow Trail on your left. Follow the Yellow Trail until it crosses the Red (Bike) Trail. The yellow trail has several small stream crossings and will lead you next to the Tranquility Day Use Area. Continue following the Yellow Trail until you reach the Tranquility Lake dam, which was built by the CCC in the 1930's, you will see the old CCC camp cabins as you follow the Yellow Trail around Tranquility Lake. Follow the Yellow Trail to the North Trailhead. From here take the Red (Bike) Trail. You will eventually find yourself crossing the Yellow Trail to form the Figure 8, continue following the Red Trail back to the Yellow/White connector, then back to your vehicle. This is one of my favorite hikes. I love the history of Tranquility Lake and the work the CCC did over 70 years ago. I hope you also enjoy this fun day hike.
