A nice little hike. The 'Shoal Nuff' walk-in/out portion of the trail is a bit tighter in terms of undergrowth as the trees through most of that section are smaller. You're also in the heat/sun most of the time through that stretch so be on the lookout for snakes. We took it going in, but opted to just hike down the gravel road that runs roughly parallel to it on the way out as it was starting to rain and we could move faster. The loop part is great. Very shaded and easy to do a full walking pace if you're wanting to push it. TONS of ferns. My only complaint was that there didn't seem to be an 'official' trail down to the water on the loop itself. The closest you get is about 40 yards away. There's spots where you could probably just walk down to it through the woods, but with spring/summer undergrowth it's a bit of a chore. I think the road you crossover might go down to the shoreline, but I'm not 100% sure as we didn't take that to the end. Download the map ahead of time as cell service is extremely weak/spotty.

great hike, trail well maintained, parking can be a little confusing but park at the closed gate then walk 100 yards to trail head. after about half mile you come to the loop, left is the steep part right is flat, so you will end up at this poi t no matter which direction you go. I went left and saved the steep part for the end. about half way through the loop is cliffs that overlook the river, nice spot for lunch.
