The walk/hike out is pleasant enough, but the foliage obscures the view of the river until you get to the overlooks....at least during the summer. Other writers are correct about the last half of the trail, the so called Loop. The last part of this was roughly a 15 degree incline over an unmaintained gravel road...of the large, loose, and unpacked variety. This was a tedious 20 minutes...really boring stuff.

Overall, the place needs some love. I would venture to say whoever is in charge of maintaining the trail(s) hasn’t been there in a long while. Sadly, I would have to say this was okay enough, but not really worth the drive from Birmingham.
