Great day and good time of year. The trail is well maintained and we saw few people other than at the trailhead and at the cabins.

To get the best of the trail, follow the blue blazes. When the white veers off to the right, stay on the blue. The blue will also briefly connect with the yellow blazes. Follow the blue/yellow, then watch for where the blue goes left. Follow the blue up to the tower, then down to the cabins. Remain on the blue to go to Coosa 56. I did the blue to white loop (3 miles) because I am planning to return later to do the entire trail. Beautiful views! A plus- I got to meet Sunny and bought his book - Ten Million Steps.

Flagg Mountain and the Tower are great to see especially at sunset but to me the star of this segment is the gorge and the overlooks. I came from the CR 56 side today and there were hunters near the trail so might be good to wait on this one.

This was a great out-and-back hike. Did not do the whole thing (obviously). It seems we did the Pinhoti-through-Flagg Mtn vs the Pinhoti Alternate. Either way, nice scenic views at the top of the ridge.

Great time! Stick to blue blaze. AllTrails has you take white and you miss flag mtn.

Enjoyed this primitive trail. I only did about 5 miles. Stayed on the blue trail as others suggested. Lots of incline getting to the tower but pretty place.

Great trail. As others have stated All Trails will guide you off the Pinhoti and take the white trail and merge you back later. I highly suggest you stay on the blue Pinhoti trail as it will take you to the original fire tower and cabins. The reason All Trails has you spur off on the white trail is that was the original Pinhoti before it got moved so you go to the fire tower and cabins.

A beautiful trail. The only drawback is this trail on the app follows the alternate route at the beginning for the first mile. Still a good hike and very pretty. The white trail (alternate) needs a few more markings. A few locations I had to look around and guess which way to go.

Fun trail. Didn’t actually reach the end due to a few bad decisions and running out of time. I started out following the blue blaze instead of checking the AllTrail map. I eventually discovered I was no longer on the AllTrails map path. What in the blue blazes?!? Found out the AllTrails map uses the Alternate Pinhoti Trail (white blaze) for the first 1-2 miles instead of the main trail. The alternate trail eventually links up to the main trail. The AllTrails path also diverges from the Pinhoti Trail about 3miles from the trailhead. The Pinhoti Trail follows the crest of the ridge that runs north along the west side of the Weogufka Gorge. This part of the trail has a great view of the gorge (pics of the stone bench were taken from the ridge). AllTrails path stays on the west side of the ridge line so no view of the gorge. That’s as far as I got before turning around. Tower on top of Flagg Mtn. is closed. The stairs are no longer safe to climb. They are trying to get a grant to pay for a new set of stairs. Whenever it opens, the view from the top should be incredible! (Fortunately, you don’t have to climb the tower to get a nice view.) When approaching from the north (CR55?), you will have to follow an unpaved road for 3 miles. Pretty, but slow. Left the trail driving south and it was only 1.5-2 miles of unpaved road.
