This trail is the 2nd half of the larger 17.9 mile Perdido River Trail. There is parking at both points of this trail. The first 4 miles of this runs next to the Period River and the last 5 miles follows a gravel road. The trail is blazed in yellow and is very easy to follow.

As another reviewer noted only the first 3 miles of this are on the river. The remaining 6 miles are on dirt roads, gravel roads and bush hogged clear cuts. Unless you just have to complete the trail, do an out and back turning around at about 3 miles under the beautiful junipers.

One of the best trails in South Alabama. Yes it is sort of remote to get to, that is its appeal. Well marked, there are several nice new shelters that would make it a nice overnight trip

Only about 3 miles of this is in the woods and on the river. The last 5 miles was walking down a gravel road.
