Nice trail with some elevation changes and not many hikers out here today. There is some loose rocks so I would rate it as a moderate trail. Great afternoon hike with my girls!

Took the Red trail, to the yellow trail to the water then took the Boy Scout trail back to the parking lot. Trails are very well marked. A great hike! One of my favorites in the Birmingham area.

You can't find the waterfall from this trail and I would classify this trail as moderate. It was very well marked and easy to follow, but I wouldn't think this trail is a lazy Sunday hike. My dog was pretty wiped after it. But it was great for a Saturday morning simple workout!

Beautiful trail, but the Narrows Ridge does not lead to the waterfall. You need to take the “yellow” trail like someone else indicated. Still loved it and once we did find the waterfall, it was very relaxing and beautiful!

Great hike! Very clearly marked trails. The only thing I wish I would have saw was a map of the trails. It’s not right there by the entrance to the trailhead but a little bit up the road. I didn’t see it till I finished my hike. I would’ve went a little bit longer if I would have known how the trails intersected. Ice cold water at the waterfall to cool off with.

Solid trail not too far from Birmingham. Moderate intensity that you can finish in about an hour. Best part is you can head over to the creek and jump in the cold, clear water after hiking! Great experience.

Nicely maintained trail. The park was busy but we didn’t see anyone else on trail. The falls are really nice too.

Just over a 2 mile walk, this was a great trail for beginners. My daughters aged 14, 11, 9 and 3 hiked the red trail (Narrows Ridge) with me with no issues.

Very nice park. HORRIBLE HOURS 9:00-5:30 Park is well kept and can get busy, but worth the trip. Red trail is my favorite but the falls are a must see.

Hiking

This is a great little Nature Preserve. The trail shown here is a mild amble along the creek side and not what I consider a hike. Other trails not shown here include the Narrows Ridge trail (3.2mi.), the Thompson Trace trail (1.4mi.) and the Handby Hollow trail (0.9mi.). These three trails intersect at several points throughout so it’s easy to get some extra miles. I started at the entrance gate and hiked the Narrows trail, which is a loop, and then drove a very short distance to the Thompson trail head at the Recreation area. From there I hiked Thompson and connected with Hanby which made a loop back to the Thompson trail head. I got about 5 miles overall and thoroughly enjoyed it. There’s also another 0.3 mi paved trail (Highlands Trail) on the other side of the Preserve. The trails are well maintained with clearly marked intersections so it’s impossible to get confused. Go to the Turkey Creek website for hours of operation and to get a trail map ahead of time.
